@ClayTravis No. If you are so bent about pride nights, don’t join the MLB. Society accepts gay people, if you Christians don’t… then YOU can get lost. Get fucked. Society has moved on. Your antiquated shit is no longer wanted.

So you can be forced to wear a uniform with a values statement you disagree with in MLB, but you aren’t allowed to state your disagreement with the values? The clear solution here is just wear normal uniforms and stop pride nights. It’s counterproductive at this point.
The Athletic@TheAthletic

After three San Francisco Giants pitchers appeared in Friday’s game with Bible verses written on their Pride Night caps, MLB issued a warning that similar behavior will not be tolerated. More details: nyti.ms/4virvHy

Halfway through 2026, Send Help (🌟🌟🌟) has turned into one of my personal favorite films of the year. Rachel McAdams is great in everything, so it’s no surprise she’s great as this film’s lead. Her partnership with director Sam Raimi worked really well. This movie is worthy of your time.
Cinema Tweets@CinemaTweets1

I had a really good time with Send Help (🌟🌟🌟). This film’s secret weapon is humor. The story of two co-workers stranded on an island after surviving a plane crash, survival films come in all shapes & sizes but it’s rare to see such a film embrace humor like Send Help. The biggest reason director Sam Raimi is able to pull all of this off is because Rachel McAdams is running point. McAdams has long been one of the more overlooked actors in Hollywood for reasons I don’t understand: her range is exceptional, her talent is ageless. Send Help is just one more notch in her belt. The Cinema Tweets Guarantee has always been spoiler free reviews & this review is absolutely no exception. But it’s the reason I won’t be spending much time on plot here. There are a few key twists that I’m not going to approach with a ten foot pole. The whole idea here is that McAdams plays Linda, who works in Strategy & Planning- not Accounting- under Dylan O’Brien’s Bradley, your cliche, stupid, over-the-top, micromanaging, lazy“promise you this but gives you that” manager. Dylan backs out of a promise he owes Linda, the two end up on a flight to Bangkok together, only for their plane to crash and the two to end up stranded together on an island. This is an imperfect film but the entrainment value is high. Sam Raimi is the same man who directed Spider-Man & Spider-Man 2, which I consider two of the best looking comic book films I’ve ever seen. I mention that because the visuals here are sort of underrated? Moments where Linda & Bradley are hunting for food & killing animals or various shots of the beach, or even how the plane crashes, were all weirdly captivating to me. I’m not going to say this is a visual achievement, but I think the filmmaking here caught me by surprise. The direction from Raimi never takes itself too seriously & that works perfectly with the screenplay & story itself. Moments where Linda & Bradley are forced to be honest about each other are some of the funniest & most endearing parts of this film. I think that’s where the emotional core of this movie really rests: two coworkers who want nothing to do with one another are now forced to try and survive with each other. More than that, Linda, a woman who is constantly put down by Bradley and ultimately betrayed when it comes to her promotion (we learn this early on, it’s not a spoiler!), now gets a chance to have the upper hand. These themes are themes anyone with a coworker can relate to & they’re zoomed-in/magnified/explored through a “survival” context. In other words, this film is circumstantially hilarious. Not only that, there’s a tremendous amount of physical comedy from every last actor involved- there’s physical comedy I haven’t seen in quite some time. At day’s end, Rachel McAdams is the number one reason to watch this film. She’s now looking back on what’s turned out to be a 25 year career of making quality films. With that said, McAdams is only 47 years old, which means she still has a lot of runway left in her career & I hope this is a springboard for her to get the recognition she deserves. I think her energy & charisma define this film is and it’s the lynchpin that allows the comedy to really work here. This is a pretty vulnerable performance when you consider what McAdams is asked to do physically, not to mention the fact the running joke this entire film is that McAdams is somehow not totally beautiful. But she does all the heavy lifting & carries nearly every scene of this film. I implore you to watch this movie because of her work. A bright spot for 2026.

I loved watching kung fu movies growing up, and I've watched a lot of Asian martial arts fights over the years. The one conclusion I've always come back to is that it's performative. Most of it only works if all participants tacitly agree to participate using only the martial art(s) in question. There are, of course, exceptions, such as the grappling sports (e.g., BJJ).

@avidseries @alexplitsas If you volunteer to sign up for military service for your country, and die in that service it is heroic. It does not matter that the service wasn't "in action". Those kids could have obtained gainful employment that didn't risk their lives for us.

@shagbark_hick I certainly don't want any home grown wars. However I think guerilla warfare is still effective against an overpowered opponent. The government would be very slow to deploy bunker busters or anything larger on its own soil.

It's sort of crazy to think that the 1990's were really the last hoorah for genuine outlaw shit. When CCTV became ubiquitous and computerized interstate record systems became common -- the days when an outlaw was an even match with a lawman effectively ended. This was only the beginning. As the 2000's, 10's, and 20's progressed, thermal FLIR, drones, flock cameras, license plate readers, and so on were also added to the LEO arsenal. With them, old-school crimes like bank robbery fell off a cliff. It was the end of an era. Some reading this will say "good," and I don't blame them. Less crime is a desirable outcome from all of this. But the end of the "outlaw era" and the unprecedented technological superiority of the state has also effectively ended the era of bottom-up revolutions, guerilla uprisings, civil wars, and so on in the West. At this stage, the only conceivable avenue through which a major militant uprising could occur would be if some proportion of the US military defied orders and expropriated weapons systems wholesale. This is also "good" in at least some way: it objectively reduces the chances of a horrible, gory civil war. However -- it's also the death of the "a little revolution every now and then" idea that is so core to the American idea of freedom. Constantly, I hear rhetoric about how "if things get bad enough, the people will revolt," with the implication being that if they did, we'd see a "Second American Revolution" that would usher in a new era of freedom -- or something like that. So far as I can tell, that idea is now dead. The totality of state power has intensified and been made incredibly precise. State-sponsored mass surveillance continues to worsen. Your odds of doing anything major -- be it a crime or a guerilla revolt -- and getting away with it have never been lower. Because of this, there's likely not going to be a "revolutionary reset" for an abnormally long time. Now, when freedoms erode, there isn't really an outlet for reclaiming them by direct action. The technology now exists to ensure that every conceivable outlet or avenue for people-driven challenges to state power is essentially impossible -- and by my eye, it'd require a coup within the US military to change that.

Longtime attorney, Marty Sipple, on the Brendan Sorsby situation: "It reminds me of the movie, 'Rocky', where Apollo Creed gets knocked down in the first round stunningly. The NCAA is Apollo Creed. It doesn't mean it's over, it's a long fight and this is just round one of the fight... The NCAA has already filed a notice of appeal and it has asked for accelerated treatment, which tells me that they're going to ask the court of appeals to 'stay' Judge Curry's order and keep Mr. Sorsby ineligible during the appeal... that could be decided within days or weeks prior to the start of practice." @937JakeSorensen | @steven_sipple 📸 courtesy ESPN and USA Today

Are people really outraged? Or are they just saying that to join the pitchfork and torches group? I feel zero outrage. Any “outrage” about the sport has left me yrs ago. Sorsby makes 5 million a year. I could care less that spent 100k on bets that didn’t involve his games. Why should I be “outraged”?

"How can this guy (Brendan Sorsby) possibly be eligible to play football this upcoming season, knowing that he's placed $100,000 in bets over the years?" "The proper response is outrage... now the NCAA did appeal already. As far as Sorsby playing, it still may not happen... I don't think Sorsby will play."
