@jon_stokes they can keep the throughput if they want it, but probably you don’t need to be doing 2 million trades per second if there’s no mechanical arbitrage from timing advantages…

These numbers are the result of an HFT arms race. If all the HFTs were forced to trade on chain at a far lower throughput no one would notice but HFT shops.

Counterpoint: there’s zero social benefit to this much speed in public markets.
