On Monday, a DHS employee, Lauren Bullis, was brutally shot and stabbed to death by Olaolukitan Adon Abel, a 26-year-old, born in the United Kingdom, who was naturalized by the Biden Administration in 2022.  Since President Trump took office, @USCIS has implemented measures to ensure individuals with criminal histories and who otherwise lack good moral character do not attain citizenship. He possesses a prior criminal record that includes convictions for sexual battery, battery against a police officer, obstruction, and assault with a deadly weapon, vandalism and now stands accused of murdering @DHSgov employee Lauren Bullis by shooting and stabbing her while she walked her dog. He has also been arrested for the murder of an unidentified woman whom he reportedly shot outside a Checkers, before randomly shooting a homeless man multiple times outside a Kroger in Brookhaven. These acts of pure evil have devastated our Department and my prayers are with the families of the victims.

Director Lyons has been a great leader of ICE and key player in helping the Trump administration remove murderers, rapists, pedophiles, terrorists, and gang members from American communities. He jumpstarted an agency that had not been allowed to do its job for four years. Thanks to his leadership, American communities are safer. We wish him luck on his next opportunity in the private sector. His last day is May 31, 2026.

In the wake of Typhoon Sinlaku, @DHSgov and @FEMA continue to support locally led disaster response efforts in Guam and the Northern Mariana Islands (CNMI). Together with territorial partners and other federal agencies, FEMA’s top priority is helping identify urgent needs and stabilizing critical lifelines like power, water, and communications. Thank you @POTUS Trump for approval of two emergency declarations providing federal resources and technical expertise, including 400 FEMA and federal staff to assist in these efforts. Our prayers are with those who have been affected by the storm. We will continue to work around the clock to ensure a safe and smooth recovery on the islands.

We have one objective: Protect the Homeland. Democrats refusal to fund @DHSgov is becoming a serious threat to both the mission and our homeland. Enough is enough.

Huge news, Alaska! @USCG is homeporting 2 more icebreakers, where the ice is—in our great state! As chair of the @senatecommerce subcommittee overseeing the Coast Guard, I’ve been leading the effort to close our nation’s icebreaking gap with our adversaries. With the Working Families Tax Cuts Act and the ICE Pact with Finland, we secured the funding to build and homeport these icebreakers. Lauren served in multiple roles at DHS Office of Inspector General, including as an Auditor in the Office of Audits and as a Team Leader in the Office of Innovation. In every role she held, Lauren exemplified dedication to the OIG mission. Lauren approached her work with integrity, thoughtfulness, and a commitment to excellence that strengthened our organization and the communities we serve. Beyond her professional accomplishments, Lauren was a bright spot for so many of the DHS community. She brought warmth, kindness, and a genuine sense of care to her colleagues each day. This horrific incident is a devastating loss for the entire DHS community.
