@daddykool Misleading. Camp David 2000 was intermediate step (as was Camp David 1978 for Israel-Egypt peace, it got credit for it later). Two sides got much closer at Taba. Negotiations ended due to defeat of Barak in Israel elections or else we might have peace now. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Taba_Summ…

@straczynski I beg to differ. They have clowns, and horses, and everything. The circus just isn't funny and never was.

This promotion of 40 years old X Windows is intriguing. I wish the platform was more like XFree than a proprietary X terminal of 1990s. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/X_Window_…

@jacksantucci The first question is what is a political party? Local candidates have organizations that support them and act as local parties or political blocks. What we don't get is a clear record in election results for historic and other purposes.

@levelsio Its not just social media. People and companies want to appear more successful than they really are. Its never all positive or negative for anyone, the reality is somewhere in between. But with so much information people want to hear short messages they can remember.

News media writing > Elon Musk's rocket exploded instead of > Elon Musk's rocket test successful and when you tweet something negative about your startup then people jumping in the comments how bad your startup is is the reason people only share positives on social media

@RANDCorporation @BrianMJenkins Its simple - if Putin looses the war he is gone. He needs to at least keep currently occupied areas. West wants Russia punished for aggression, and Ukraine allied to the West. But its not an existential crisis as it is for Putin. For Ukraine it is and they will keep fighting.

@levelsio These are provincial (local) elections. And its not a 2-party system so no party ever had majority or close. But the trend is clear and it is familiar populist rural protest vote by people who remained out of sight before.

👏 Amazing to see the new 🚜👩‍🌾 Farmer's Party (BBB) become the 🇳🇱 Netherlands #1 party in elections today It was created to stop the Dutch and EU government from trying to destroy Netherlands' primary export product for insane ecology reasons
Euractiv@Euractiv

A farmers' protest party shook up the political landscape in the Netherlands on Wednesday (15 March), emerging as the big winner in provincial elections that determine the make-up of the Senate. dlvr.it/SkysZQ

@petschc @RANDCorporation Russia will run out of weapons faster, missiles will be gone in a year, tanks too. Ukraine is reusing captured fixed Russian tanks. Already passed bills to support Ukraine include military aid for 2 years. More will come too. Russia can only lose in a war of attrition.

@RANDCorporation Putin knows eventually US weapons supply to Ukraine will be reduced bc of economic downturn, he is working on that. Then it’s a matter of time until Ukraine falls as initially expected.

Russia's mobilization and annexations in Ukraine make one thing clear, say RAND experts: There is no viable path to a peace settlement. What's more, anything short of a Ukrainian victory will lead to a worse outcome for the international order. bit.ly/3yh1flm

@RANDCorporation Finally RAND got it. As an analytical organization RAND should have understood it before, but kept pretending Putin is a political player and diplomacy can work. But he is a fascist dictator like Hitler - we should all remember lessons of Munich and WW2 better.

@levelsio Pros and Cons. Many who want out are children of elite who benefited from Putin regime and promoted it. There would also be those who have family and will send them money and sanctioned goods. The draft would still happen as its main source are villages and rural areas.

@dmofengineering Missing secret door from master bedroom closet to garage as last means of escape when zombies attack. With that it'd work great as a movie set.

@RusBotschaft And invading another country, brutally murdering civilians, destroying its infrastructure are not red lines? Russia crossed these lines like Nazi Germany did which caused its downfall. Those who know horrors of fascism know what it takes to fight fascism.

@levelsio Its impossible to do with certainty that would not put into question pics from people that do exist - which was exactly their point. What has been done is integrate with a mobile app that requires taking a selfie.

@levelsio You forgot "no boss" - otherwise its all good :) Well except monitoring systems, which are a must for any modern application (and what I often get paid for). But no monitoring of human workers of course :)

@RANDCorporation @JasonGMatheny I'm cautiously hoping that humans can make it. But RAND can't fix core issues. 21st century conflicts are often about energy as Laura Nader and others predicted, yet we're not doing enough. Political radicalization and polarization increased dramatically, no solutions for that.

@RANDCorporation Don't fall victim to what Russia wants. It under-estimated Ukraine, already lost a lot of its military and can not easily handle a long war. Now that Western arms are in Ukraine and having an impact it wants out to declare victory. Don't let fascist Putin regime get away with it.

@courtneywmh Lets be honest - Afghanistan was never Russian or close to it. Moscow thinks Crimea is, though Russia only controlled it for 150 years (Crimean Khanate was annexed by Russian Empire in 1789).

If #Russia loses Crimea this may result not from military attack but from new Kremlin rulers who want better ties with the West and an end to ruinous sanctions. Gorbachev faced a similar dilemma and pulled out Soviet forces from Afghanistan. reuters.com/world/europe/m…
