At the same time, there was one prominent poaster in our corner of Twitter who was genuinely unemployed in California during COVID and couldn't get benefits. This made the poor guy so angry he went insane. I am not exaggerating in the slightest. Still think about him sometimes.

At one point, California had more people applying for unemployment than there were adults in the entire state. $32.6 billion. Gone. Prisoners collected. Dead people collected. I warned them. Heard a fun rumor at work about why the war is really ending. It seems they've exhausted stockpiles of critical supplies and things will have to halt until they can be replenished. That's right folx: 4 weeks of war has depleted our entire reserve of Air Medals and Silver Stars

Being here in Korea, listening to everyone talk about it as the canary in the coalmine of declining global birthrates, and the end of a culture, I'm willing to bet that sometime within next twenty years this place will turn on a dime and there will be a baby boom. Not having kids is a current fad, and like all fads, it will fade and be replaced by a counter-fad. And nobody does fads with such intensity, and volatility, as the Koreans.
