Face Reconstruction of Queen Tiye (1398-1338 BC), based on her Mummy, found at the Tomb of Amenhotep II (KV35) in 1898. Now preserved at GEM, Cairo... Tiye (Tye) was the Great Royal Wife of the Egyptian Pharaoh  Amenhotep III (r. 1391-1353 BC), mother of Pharaoh Akhenaten (r. 1353-1336 BC) and grandmother of Tutankhamun (1341-1323 BC) ; her parents were Yuya and Thuya. Mainstream scholars reject the notion that Egypt was a white or black civilization; they maintain that, despite the phenotypic diversity of Ancient and present-day Egyptians, applying modern notions of black or white races to ancient Egypt is anachronistic. In addition, scholars reject the notion, implicit in the notion of a black or white Egypt hypothesis, that Ancient Egypt was racially homogeneous; instead, skin color varied between the peoples of Lower Egypt, Upper Egypt, and Nubia, who in various eras rose to power in Ancient Egypt. Moreover, "Most scholars believe that Egyptians in antiquity looked pretty much as they look today, with a gradation of darker shades toward the Sudan". Within Egyptian history, despite multiple foreign invasions, the demographics were not shifted by large migrations. © Moe_APHG #archaeohistories

@unholyrollin @konstructivizm Haha. I was thinking the same. Admittedly, I'm no astrophysicist, but most images I've seen of the object to me view like a Rorschach test. I'm digging the buzz it's generated though.

A re-examination of the 3I/ATLAS image taken in early October revealed a structured core and traces of industrial-grade metal, casting doubt on the natural explanation. The further we delve into the history of 3I/ATLAS, the more the previous data begins to seem less like static and more like evidence. This is particularly evident in this 45-minute frame, taken on October 21, 2025, by AstroPhotoG using the 14-inch Dobsonian telescope, long before NASA or ESA released their own high-resolution images. This early image contains features that we now realize are impossible to ignore. These data are alarmingly consistent with what later telescopes have confirmed. What we once dismissed as noise now looks like the first clear fingerprint of an artificial object. A forgotten October snapshot may have shown us the real 3I/ATLAS months before the world knew what to look for.

When Jodie Foster first met Robert De Niro on the set of "Taxi Driver" at 12 years old, she found him "really uninteresting." "One of our greatest American actors, so proud to have worked with him — not the most interesting person on earth. And at that time, he was very much in character, the way he was in those days. So he was really uninteresting and I remember having these lunches with him and being like, what is happening? When can I go home? ... But he finally walked me through improvisation by the time we had our third lunch together, and it opened my eyes to what acting could be." variety.com/2025/film/fest…

A couple in southern England 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿🇬🇧 were working in their garden, adjusting a fence post. As they dug into the clay soil near their flower bed, they hit something unexpected—a handful of small, round objects. At first, they looked like bits of old metal. Then the mud came off, and the coins began to shine. They had stumbled onto a hidden fortune from the reign of Henry VIII. The finding, which happened in 2020, came as a total shock. As they rinsed the dirt away under the tap, the details on the coins started to show. There was gold, silver, and centuries-old markings. There were a total of 64 of them in the same spot. The text includes portraits of kings, Latin text, and even the initials of two of Henry VIII’s wives: K for Katherine of Aragon and I for Jane Seymour. Most of them were in stunning condition, although they were dating from 1420s through 1530s. The coins span the reigns of Henry VI, Edward IV, Henry VII, and most notably, Henry VIII. Experts date the burial to the late 1530s, a time marked by intense religious upheaval in England. It was the era of the Dissolution of the Monasteries. Henry VIII declared himself head of the Church of England in 1534 and broke free from the Catholic Church. Over the next few years, he ordered the closure—and looting—of hundreds of Catholic monasteries and priories. Milford-on-Sea, where the hoard was found, lay within the estate of Christchurch Priory, one such dissolved monastery. It’s quite likely that the people in the priory buried the treasure attempting to hide it from the kind and retrieve it at a later time. They never did. The hoard is now expected to sell for over £230,000 (more than $300,000). #archaeohistories

An intact ceremonial chariot unearthed at the Pompeii archaeological site is being hailed as the first artifact of its kind ever found in Italy 🇮🇹 “It is an extraordinary discovery for the advancement of our knowledge of the ancient world," Massimo Osanna, outgoing director of the site. The ancient city was destroyed by the eruption of Mt. Vesuvius in 79 AD, and has been the site of ongoing archaeological study since 1700s. The chariot was meticulously uncovered since its discovery on Jan. 7, 2021 inside the portico of a stable outside the walls of the main settlement. The remains of three animals, including a horse still in its harness, were previously found nearby. The news release, issued by the Archaeological Park of Pompeii, describes the intact chariot as having "four wheels, along with its iron components, beautiful bronze and tin decorations," as well as imprints of organic materials including ropes and floral decorations. "This is an exceptional discovery, not only because it adds an additional element to the history of this dwelling and the story of the last moments in the lives of those who lived in it, as well as more generally to our understanding of the ancient world, but above all because it represents a unique find - which has no parallel in Italy thus far - in an excellent state of preservation," the news release said. Archaeologists who have studied the site agreed. "This new find is even more special for being an ornamental (rather than utilitarian) vehicle found not disassembled in a burial or depicted through artistic convention on a relief, but as it was on the day of the eruption," Eric Poehler, a Roman archaeologist and Pompeii specialist who wrote a book on the city's ancient traffic systems. Poehler added that "today is another great day for archaeology and it is the kind that only Pompeii can provide. 273 years of delight and revelation and still going strong." It's believed the chariot was likely used for celebrations and parades and may have also carried new brides to their homes. The treasure was nearly lost to looters, who had dug more than 260 feet of tunnels in and around the site. But it was discovered thanks to the thieves after police came across the illegal tunnels in 2017. Two people who live in houses on the land above the site are currently on trial. Park officials say the looters have struck the site "severely in recent years." 📷 : A detail of the decoration of a chariot, with its iron elements, bronze decorations and mineralized wooden remains, that was found in Civita Giuliana, north of Pompeii. Officials at Pompeii archaeological site near Naples on Feb. 27, 2021, announced the first-ever discovery of an intact ceremonial chariot, one of several important discoveries made in the same area outside the park following an investigation into an illegal dig. 📷© Luigi Spina © Parco Archeologico di Pompei via AP #archaeohistories

@DelanoSquires @cspanwj Great interview. Boys need men to help them become men (preferably a live-in father, part of a loving, functional marriage as you described). This doesn't mean single-mom households are doomed to turn out dysfunctional males, but optional father theology is obviously not working.

The caller felt I was insulting his single mother. I did no such thing, but that’s what people assume when you promote the ideal. We have allowed the feelings of adults to take priority over the needs of children for far too long. That time is over. @cspanwj

Since #Verizon is down, I'm watching commercials. And what I'd really like to do is find out how I can instigate a law that pharmaceutical companies can't market directly to consumers. We're not doctors and should not be making those kinds of decisions based on pandering ads!
