@bumbadum14 Why is it our responsibility to feed & provide healthcare all over the world, not be allowed to see where the money is going at all & then be told we can’t go into a country & arrest its democidal dictator who’s killing theirs our citizens? Oh, money laundering, that’s why.

My entire history of covering NASCAR, I've remembered a decision at the 2004 Martinsville race when the track came apart and Jeff Gordon's car was damaged by the concrete. It was only my third race and I got up the nerve to ask a question in the postrace press conference regarding whether Gordon should get his spot back. I was told by a driver that was a stupid question. Here we are all these years later and Corey Day is magically getting his four laps back after his car was damaged by the track. I know I'm an old fart and there's no such thing as precedent from 22 years ago, but this is breaking my brain. 😂 Maybe it wasn't a stupid question after all.

“McDonald’s meat is bad for you!” When will this MYTH die??? At least in the case of the Quarter Pounder…the EXACT OPPOSITE is true Quarter Pounders come with 100% fresh, never-frozen beef with no fillers, additives, or preservatives I should also mention: The Beef used in Quarter Pounders is grilled on a flat-top griddle with no added oil, butter, or fat This is all easily verifiable btw
CoconutGreek@Chickenhearts69

People say meat is bad for you but which? The meat you get at McDonald's? Or the local cow eating grass right over there? I eat the heart and the liver. Erling Haaland

Before machines, there was the Zeller Curl. Popularized by Artie Zeller in the 1950s and praised by Marvin Eder, "The Biceps from the Bronx." The idea was simple: -Use more weight than you can strictly curl -Get it to the top -Fight the negative all the way down.

CNN NewsNight has a meltdown over @ElonMusk becoming the world's first trillionaire. Cari Champion literally says people "shouldn't be allowed to have a trillion dollars." Scott Jennings shuts it down: "We already tax the rich... is it for us to sit around and say there's a limit on what you can build?" Classic left envy on full display. WATCH: Cari Champion: “There should be some checks and balances in this society. People shouldn't be allowed to have a trillion dollars.” @ScottJenningsKY: “Rich people in this country pay the vast majority of taxes, and I hear people today saying, "Oh, it's time that we tax the rich." Folks, I got news for you. We already tax the rich. But is it for us to sit around and say, "There's a limit on what you can build, there's a limit on what you can earn," and it's now my job to tell you what to do with your money?”

Of course a regulation-loving, government permission-craving Euro shows up to make this inane observation. There are many people, a younger version of myself included, who enjoy working 3rd shift because of the relative tranquility, peace, and autonomy offered by overnight hours. And there are others who want to work 3rd shift because of their daytime obligations. No one put a gun to any 3rd shift worker’s head, and none are serfs—they are working those overnight hours by choice.

It’s deeply odd to me that America is a far less 24/7 hour society today than it was 10, 20, or even 30 years ago. I vividly remember friends from the UK back in 1996 marveling at the fact that in the mid-sized Indiana town where I went college it was possible to buy groceries, clothing, a lawn mower, a snow blower, Lego sets, and bow hunting gear at 3 AM on any given Tuesday of the year. That was peak American Empire, and it’s long gone.

When Walmart never went back to 24 hours nation wide after Covid I knew that was the end of America.

I want to say something about @60Minutes since so many conservatives are trashing it. When my Dad was first diagnosed with Glioblastoma and we were trying to decide who he and my mother should sit down with and talk about the end days of his life - we ultimately landed on Leslie Stahl and @60Minutes. Leslie came to our ranch in Sedona and sat down and profiled both my parents together for an exclusive sit down. We ultimately chose Leslie because of her prestige as a journalist and respected history of the show. Leslie and her crew were simultaneously professional and respectful of the delicate emotional state my entire family was in. She was in our secluded home as we all grappled with the concept that my dad was dying and fast from a rare cancer in front of the entire world. She and her producers did a wonderful job. Feel free to watch it, it’s beautifully done. This is not a situation just any person without experience can airdrop and handle the dynamics of. This is not something a rookie commentator or podcaster could have maneuvered with the respect needed. Experience does matter. Not all legacy media is garbage nor are all reporters. This “throw all the bastards out” mentality is obnoxious and just going to breed more insanity and distrust on both sides. I don’t want woke journalism. I don’t want anitwoke journalism. I just want great journalism. Be careful what you wish for conservatives, - there could come a day when Rachel Maddow is put in charge instead of Bari Weiss and then tell me how you feel. The pendulum swings both ways.

@YosimetiSam2 @JohnLeFevre The officer knew the girl was in the car. That's what makes it reckless. It is considered deadly force above a certain speed. If it was just him, personally fine with the PIT.

This is justice in a blue state (New York). State Trooper Christopher Baldner pulls over a family SUV for speeding on the Thruway. Driver Tristin Goods refuses to show ID and escalates the stop. Trooper uses pepper spray. Driver floors it and flees at high speed. Trooper follows training and uses pit maneuver to ram the vehicle and stop the threat. The SUV crashes. Goods’ own 11-year-old daughter Monica is tragically killed. Result? Trooper Baldner was just sentenced to ~7 years in prison for manslaughter. The father - who caused the deadly chase - walks free after claiming he was “scared for his life.”

New statement from Scott Pelley:   There has never been anything in America like 60 Minutes.   The Sunday tradition is the most successful program of any kind in history. For more than a decade, its innovative growth on every major online platform has extended its reach to countless millions around the world. This spring, at the end of our 58thseason, 60 Minutes grew rapidly with an unheard-of 9% jump in viewers on CBS.   “60” has been the number-one program in America for decades because our beloved audience finds integrity, quality, and humanity in our stories. When stewardship of the program passed to my colleagues and me, our responsibility was to expand energetically into a new age of media technology while preserving the values our audience expects. Now, the new owner of our network is casting this legend aside, apparently to curry a moment of favor with the Trump administration.   The waste is heartbreaking.   Last month, 60 Minutes lost its DNA when our entire senior leadership and two of our best on-air correspondents were cruelly fired without cause. Good people were silenced because they stood up for our audience. They stood for fairness against the forces of political bias; they stood for professionalism against chaos.   For my part, new management has instructed me to inject falsehoods and bias into a politically sensitive story. I’ve been told to include assertions that are unverified. To date, in every case, I have managed to ignore these instructions or refuse them. Recently, politicians have been invited to choose correspondents for interviews on the broadcast. Giving politicians control over 60 Minutes interviews is not how this is done. Finally, incompetence and unprofessionalism in the new management have wreaked havoc. In a case involving one of my stories, the entire program came within 19 minutes of not getting on the air at all.   At 60 Minutes, we have fought harder than anyone knows to save the program that became an American icon. We owed that to our millions of viewers. I am deeply moved by the thousands of wishes we have received to “keep up the good fight.” Most of the men and women of CBS News are still in that fight. But now the collapse of values at the top has become untenable. The leadership of 60 Minutes is no longer recognizable. The principles I hold dear are gone, and so I must leave as well.   I depart after 37 years at CBS with one emotion—a heart brimming with gratitude for the men and women of CBS News who encouraged and enriched my work, very often at the risk of their own lives. I pray for a day when those people and their ideals are honored again—a day when sanity, competence, and courage return.   Scott Pelley
