"Those selfish red button pressers wanna murder all of us blue button pressers!!! >:c" You're literally free to not press the "russian roulette for me pls" button; no benefit whatsoever to partaking in this pointless gamble Red: 42.1% Blue: 57.9% You can't make this shit up

Everyone in the world has to take a private vote by pressing a red or blue button. If more than 50% of people press the blue button, everyone survives. If less than 50% of people press the blue button, only people who pressed the red button survive. Which button would you press?

This was an armed attack by a Democrat with the intention of killing the elected President with a deadly weapon. This attack is worse than every single thing that happened on January 6th, 2021, combined. The media will never tell you this. But it’s true

@MarkChangizi That's not the scenario tho. You just have everyone lives. If you have to change what h button says. Maybe you're just wrong.

— The Suicide Button — No need for a Red button at all. Just have a single (Blue) button labeled, “Press me to commit suicide by midnight.” And then in fine print it says, “Guaranteed to work unless more than 50% of humans end up pressing their button.” Are you suggesting it’s now selfish to not press the button? Because that’s exactly the Red button answer in the equivalent Res/Blue button case.

@MurkaDurkah Y'all are comparing hitting an everyone survives button to donating a kidney. 🥀🥀🥀 it costs you nothing bro the risk is that somebody body will press red trying to save themselves to get the same results pressing blue. While ensuring others live.

All these Blue button pushers have two kidneys. Why not follow your ethics to their logical endpoint and donate one?

@CapitalCrashout @cryptovslegacy @Shooooooobie @minordissent Yeah l, and red is just that, if everyone just press red then nobody dies. It's the outcome actually based in the impossible. Blue just requires little more than half the population to press. Realistically more likely.

@cryptovslegacy @Shooooooobie @CapitalCrashout @minordissent It's literally the path of most resistance and in this scenario you're trying to convince people you're risking your life pressing blue but it only becomes a risk when people decide to press red. You create very risk you fear pressing red.

@KalebDimes @VitoComedy Maybe in regards to the woodchipper, but in the specific scenario unless you just want to see people die. Pressing red just sabotages a chance to save everyone. the scenario is literally giving you a button that can guarantee everyone's survival and red would just sabotage it.

@ClockWorkChrono @VitoComedy Correct but my counter is that the exercise is a test of performative empathy. It exploits that we SHOULD be selfish at times for the greater good. This exercise is perfectly encapsulating that people can't critically think and just want social brownie points

Why would everyone not press the red button...? Pressing the red button is so obvious that I kind of want everyone who presses the blue button to die for being stupid.

@ClockWorkChrono @ltfloch @AbeLopezAuthor So if I Red is controlled by Tzeentch, I think the whole button exercise was a scam. So what if the scam is actually the Blue does not die, but they follow the Red around and endlessly moralize until Red loses her marbles? That would be much more fitting, no?

Rational people know intrinsically that everyone should press red, it eliminates any question of anyone dying Irrational (emotionally-driven) people will be compelled to press blue because “it’s the right thing to do” And the more you try to convince them otherwise the more they’ll dig in

People seeing a theoretical blue win as validation that blue is the right choice for them is hilarious because it’s exactly backwards. Your vote has no meaningful effect. If you believe a blue win is all but certain, you are far more morally justified to vote red.

No, because in the non-button versions red always wins! That’s what blue team doesn’t understand— the entire blue victory is contingent on *the specific detail of it being a button* Make it a woodchipper or a nuke or a drowning tank or any actually lethal object and red wins by a landslide! Which suggests most blue voters are full of shit and lying about their beliefs!
peepeepoopoo@DeepDishEnjoyer

here's the last thing i'll say about the red/blue button debate. we now know that when polling ended, blue ended up winning. knowing this, isn't one going around trying to convince people to vote red unethical? absent of this proselytizing, people believe in a high trust society
