@TheTrueVanguard Doesn't help it's an extraction shooter. Was never a popular genre so the playerbase they're trying to poach is already small to begin with. Then insult to injury is anyone who was a fan of the original were sorely disappointed it's Marathon in name only.

Marathon is stuck between a rock and a hard place. It's an incredibly good game, but the more casual audience seems to be avoiding it. But if they dumb the game down, it will be considerably worse and I'll likely stop playing it. It's basically a phenomenal game that doesn't appeal, I guess, to a wider audience. I'm not sure what exactly the solution is, maybe it's better strategic marketing and creative efforts to onboard new players. I'm not sure. But dumbing the game down would likely fix nothing. You might get new players to temporarily try it, but then they're playing a considerably less inspired game and will bounce off it. I also think the truly bizarre pre-launch hate campaign was SUPER weird. Like, gamers can be such strange people and I say that with peace and love. But I'm not sure I've ever seen a global predisposition to hate a game the way I saw it with Marathon. People were literally parroting the exact same sentences for months, almost like they had talking points and were collectively regurgitating them. Like the places where gamers hang out (YT, Reddit, Twitch, X, etc) had posts or something hating the game that circulated so much that people just latched onto them. I dunno. Either way, it didn't do the game any favors. I'm not sure what the best path forward is but good marketing and a positive outward image might help. And the vault wipes are definitely a good thing, that's totally necessary. But I think diluting the game to make it more palatable is the wrong play personally. Short term gain maybe, but over time will actually hurt retention I think.

@Variamech @GreenTextRepost I was talking about original WoW as well with that raiding remark. It wasn't hard. People were just hilariously bad at the game in 2004. It's true with any game sadly that people will min/max the fun right out of a game by turning it in to a spreadsheet to eliminate social aspect

@Luuiinn @GreenTextRepost I fucked up when I said Classic. I meant the original WoW. The game was super broken but it had some great moments. People are so focused on "raid is hard" you are missing the main point that Blizzard removed most chances of emergent gameplay.

It was never hard because of the raids/bosses it was hard because the people had no idea how to gear or pilot a character in 2004. Classic was re-released and raids were cleared in an hour after opening. Rose tinted glasses OP.

WoW is trash because its structured now. Level Up > Dungeon > repeat daily quests to get some fake currency so you character can actually play the game > Raid. In classic, raiding was hard but you could still stumble on a long ass quest that sent you all over the game to get a blue chest piece or even unlock class skills/weapons. It was different for every class. Took weeks to do it all but you weren't on a thread mill.

The one thing this whole drama with sykkuno proved was that people like Mujin has become patently untrustworthy. You cannot have a hour+long video ready to go as soon as the Google doc was published without some back channel coordination. Of course cheating is wrong, but they are making it sound like he is some kind of actual predator who causes dangerous physical harm against women. No. Simply, he is just a player who likes to keep multiple women around. Please do not dilute the definition of predator and dangerous, just because you wanna maximize rage bait. Players like him are a dime a dozen and painting him as some kind dangerous person who preys on smaller CCs I just lazy lazy framing. By that logic women who monkey branch and cheat are also dangerous predators... No. They are simply cheaters, nothing more.

This new Venthyr-themed mount model has just been added to the CN Titan Reforged realms. Not much is known about it and It hasn’t actually shown up in-game yet

@MrGMYT As long as it's neatly out of view in the currency tab and not cluttering my bags then it's fine. I do like how the crests work though where if you cap myth crests they get downgraded to hero on acquisition going down until you just get voidlight.

This might be a bit of a hot take, but I actually don’t mind that Midnight uses different currencies for different systems. Since most of them sit neatly in the currency tab, it feels pretty manageable, and it honestly doesn’t bother me at all.

@takhsick It was brought up repeatedly during the beta and when ever they announce MW changes. Especially to how SCK interacts with Ancient Teachings etc. Fistweaving is fun, but not when it boils down to ">2 targets = press SCK".

Mistweavers overtaking in keys. Mistweavers in every shuffle game. Mistweaver in every comp of arena. Mistweavers in RWF & all Mistweavers in AWC. If a class if overturned & completely dominate in S tier after weeks of nerfs then a convo should be had about the fact its just terrible design MW designer likely gets paid 130k a year to torture a player base in a game they dont play. Class designers should be forced to play the game to see what their classes are capable of in all forms of content. But god forbid anyone at work hold them accountable for that bad design because that just makes them look bad

@BikeMan After moving everything myself I promised myself I'd never do it again for other than my expensive items. Don't trust others to handle them properly. Thankfully I took a more minimalist approach to furnishing in my later years. Less clutter and worries should I need to move again

@muSPK_ @Wowhead It was nerfed while they were both still doing pulls. It was just 20% slower glaives and to make them more noticeable. Echo also went straight to bed when they saw there was a secret P4. Again, they took more pulls regardless. 'Headstart' is a nonissue unless a boss dies 10 pulls

@Luuiinn @Wowhead Not only the head start but also TWO nerfs at the start of their day to make sure the early lead is reinforced. Blizz clearly showing who they want to win. Echo are always put in a position where they have to catch up after Liquid had a day of prog with the nerfs.
