@GWRHelp can I claim delay repay if I catch an earlier train due to my booked (advance ticket) service being cancelled? The journey still took 45 minutes longer than the original booking.

Day two of London commuting and the fast train journey of 24 minutes is currently 1 hour and 10, due to a signal failure. Huzzah.

@KentishHack I jumped into the tech side of the industry a few years before it closed, and still in that so get to do loads of stuff for a whole range of local papers

@phil_creighton What I learned from Spark and then during my time with the Post at Tessa Towers is still serving me well 20+ years later.

All a long-winded way of saying if you are at uni and want to become a journalist, get into your student media. It might be online, a radio station or TV, but it’s an excellent place to start. If someone comes to me wanting work experience and they haven’t, I want to know why.

Spoke at a @UniofReading event today - it was a moment to briefly look back. While going through my archives for material I pulled out this issue of Spark, the student newspaper. It’s an important edition.

@phil_creighton There is something about Scandinavian newspapers. I get exposed to them at work now and they always look good

As someone who loves newspaper typography, there is something compelling about this front page. No idea what it says, but it doesn’t half look good. Could it ever work in the UK?
