
@TwoRulesOfWar The WW2 Army had over 40 x 4-star and 5-star generals. The US has a broader, global mission today and has implemented best practices on jointness from WW2 that increased the number of commands for good reasons.

@TwoRulesOfWar Remind me again why the number of Generals is important. Why are we saying the ratio of Generals in WW II was optimal?



Does not make a ton of sense to scapegoat an army general for a failed strategic bombing campaign, so I wonder what the beef is here.















This is the *exact opposite* of the truth. The modern staff evolved from the Revolutionary system that Napoleon used to such great effect. If you really want to trace it back to ancien régime origins, then it lay in the post-1763 reforms that led to that system.
