@JamieBonkiewicz Money is required to live and survive. You must live and survive to vote. To use your logic, food and shelter is a poll tax. We all need ID to travel , to rent a hotel, buy a house, purchase various products, and so forth. Everyone already has ID, hence, it is not a poll tax.

@FancyThat510 @SenAmyKlobuchar A drivers license is only required if you wish to operate a motor vehicle on a public roadway. A passport is only required if you wish to leave the US. Please enlighten me on which forms of ID one “cannot function in this society” without.

Requiring people to show ID to vote while also requiring people to pay for an ID is akin to requiring people to pay in order to vote aka a poll tax. If the gov’t made IDs free, then I would be fine with voter id.

Here are the FACTS.   On February 19, 2026, Buffalo Police Department alerted Border Patrol about a non-citizen in their custody.   Our agents confirmed that Mr. Shah Alam entered the United States as a refugee on December 24, 2024, and was not amenable to removal.   Border Patrol agents offered him a courtesy ride, which he chose to accept to a coffee shop, determined to be a warm, safe location near his last known address, rather than be released directly from the Border Patrol station.   He showed no signs of distress, mobility issues, or disabilities requiring special assistance.
