Here's my take. Trump trying to use the Falklands as leverage against Britain is not a smart move. I have huge respect for America and many good friends across the pond, and I would still vote for Trump RIGHT NOW. But this kind of pressure will only damage the Special Relationship even further, and we all know Starmer has already done enough damage on his own. The lefties in Britain already hate America and Trump - this won’t change that. The real danger is that patriotic Brits will start turning against you too. This needs to be thought out properly, by all sides. The British people will not tolerate this.

Thank you, @MorePerfectUS, for shining a spotlight on my hometown. Residents haven’t watered their lawns in three years. Hospitals and schools are trying to dig wells and hitting brackish water. Car washes will be forced to close. Meanwhile a single Exxon plant uses 13 million gallons a day. And the city council says they don’t know if they legally can stop them. This is what happens when you give your water away. It may be too late for Corpus Christi. But other cities can still say no to the next industry promising jobs in exchange for their water and energy. Data centers, I’m looking at you.

Texas doesn’t have state income tax. What it DOES have is a property tax bill that resets every year based on whatever your home is “worth now.” Mine went up $3,800 in a single year. I didn’t get a raise. My house didn’t get bigger. The state just decided it needed more money. At least california is honest about robbing you.

One of our solution architects put in their notice. I don’t plan to backfill if we can avoid. Here’s my plan: Take every call solution design meeting transcript, every design doc created, and the SOP for SA and feed into Claude Code to study. Plan to create a Solution Architect project (to start) where it helps the generalist consultant: 1. Identify the information they need to collect 2. Create documents to collect the data 3. Ingest the collected data and identify gaps 4. Write the mermaid script to import into Lucid (if needed) 5. Build the Solution Design deliverables I’d much rather spend on tokens than be negotiated for a raise every 6 months.

@flowidealism Summer is my favorite time in Austin. Sure it’s hot but that’s when we get to enjoy our pools, rivers and lakes.

I’m a big fan of Austin as the cultural headquarters of innovative education and therefore as the most important cultural center in the world. But the weather? Almost unbearable 4-5 months per year. Spend summers elsewhere if you possibly can.
