REPEAT: if there was genuine seriousness in making women’s reservation a reality before 2029 GE, then why not reserve 1/3rd in present Lok Sabha of 543. Or would the male MPs have not accepted it? Congrats South India!!! Our voices are safe for now. The 131st Constitutional Amendment Bill is voted out. Failed to get 2/3rd majority. Out of the 528 votes polled, ayes - 298, noes - 230! So, the interlinked Women’s Reservation Bill and Delimitation Bills will now stand withdrawn.

Comparing Telangana’s formation with the India–Pakistan partition is not just wrong… it is deeply offensive. Telangana was born out of a democratic movement, a long struggle for identity, justice, and self-governance. It was not a tragedy. It was not a wound on the nation. It was a constitutional process. And let’s not forget- the BJP itself supported the formation of Telangana. So what exactly is this comparison trying to suggest? That a legitimate, democratic statehood movement is equivalent to one of the most painful, violent partitions in human history? This is not just poor judgment. This is an insult. I strongly condemn the remarks made by BJP MP Tejasvi Surya in Parliament comparing the formation of Telangana to the partition of India and Pakistan. Telangana was created through a peaceful democratic and constitutional process under Article 3 of the Constitution, reflecting the long standing aspirations and sacrifices of our people. Such comparisons hurt the sentiments of four crore Telanganas and undermine the dignity of our state. I urge the MP to tender an unconditional apology and the Hon'ble Lok Sabha Speaker to take appropriate action. Telangana's identity and self respect are non negotiable.

My take: if the Modi govt is serious about women’s reservation ahead of 2029 GE , simple solution: just amend Article 334 A and go back to the 2010 bill formula that provided one third seats for women from existing 543 seats. Doesn’t need a link with census or delimitation. Can be done tomorrow morning!!🙏
