@Met4CastUK Looks like this was a bust. That fog never cleared here!

MON 09 MAR 26 Surface heating may generate some weak instability across the southwest, south Wales but in particular around or to the north of London. Skinny CAPE will somewhat limit lightning potential however stronger shear aloft may allow for some very weak organisation should cloud heights grow tall enough, the greatest chance of this is to the north of London. That said - Overall risk is rather low.

Fog is notoriously hard to forecast, hence met office rarely issue fog warnings until last min But there does appear to be quite a strong signal for *patches* dense fog to develop in parts of green shading from ~4am Leading to potential for low visibility in morning rush hour⚠️

IMPORTANT: 🚩 REVOKED. Substantial shift back towards colder patterns starting 26th. We are now back to 0 flags with an increasing likelihood of cold weather.

🚨 COLD AND SNOW LIKELIHOOD MON 26 - SAT 31 JAN 2026 The likelihood of cold & snow in the 7-14 day period has now been upgraded to moderate. Cold weather is an increasingly likely possibility however there remains significant uncertainty on; 📉 How cold it'll be ❄️ The likelihood & detail of snowfall That said - Confidence for a period of below average temperatures is increasing.

LATE JANUARY | POSSIBLE SOLUTIONS (50%) The most likely solution at the moment is for low pressure to "undercut" a blocking high to the north drawing in colder air from the east. This would bring an increasing risk of snowfall into eastern areas and along the northern boundary of low pressure systems. (40%) An almost similar weighted possibility is for the block to our north to be a little weaker, this would allow low pressure further north and east across the UK keeping the coldest air to the west and allowing milder air into the south and west. (10%) A very low likelihood outcome is for blocking to be very weak allowing low pressure to push right across the UK bringing a continuation of mild & wet weather.

OP run wasn’t an outlier but on the coldest of the ensembles. It seems so 50/50 anything could happen with no clear signal

@jenjen1235556 @NorthBankVoice1 People like @Met4CastUK are accurate. He does not issue red flags based on one det run. It would be the trend in ensembles highlighting the concern. If models flip & it isn’t constiantly being pushed back then who knows maybe he will revert that red flag!🚩

The GEFS mean is very nice. Slidey. Cold. Snowy. Momentum towards a cold & potentially snowy period continues.
