@_cbish I say study the topic extensively before preparing the lesson and then just follow the spirit - the spirit isn’t likely to out something in your mind if you didn’t learn it before.

Dear Teachers, Here's the secret to a 25 minute class Don't spend hours preparing the lesson—Spend hours preparing yourself to receive revelation to facilitate the lesson You will always know what to do at any given moment because you are prepared—not the lesson was prepared

@_cbish @TresClare I disagree. Do spend hours preparing (which includes narrowing the lesson down to two core principles) then let the Spirit take you in whatever direction it goes.

@_cbish I have sat in too many classes, bored stiff, where the teacher did exactly that, and the lack of preparation showed. Much better it is to perpare AND seek divine help.

@_cbish Obviously inspiration/guidance by the spirit is the key to good teaching. On the other hand, I have found that putting in the effort to prepare facillitates the guidance of the spirit better than waiting till the last minute and trying to wing it.

@EchosofEnoch @DanielFullmer6 Be in a constant state of Christlike immersion. Always ask "what good can I bring to every interaction, every situation, every problem?" The miracles are endlessly in front of us

@_cbish @DanielFullmer6 Also this came to mind in my way home. Prophets see around corners. They show the way the Lord showed to them. Trust the process. We have time at home as well

A teacher must prepare, including scripture and source material immersion, living virtuously, pondering, serving others, etc. The structure and approach will be guided by the Holy Ghost. Insights and direction will come days, hours, minutes, and seconds in advance. The key is let the discussion flow naturally. It's not about making sure certain points are made. It's about people making their own connections to Christ

@_cbish @bigmommaJMCZA I love this take. Although, my wife would disagree. She has a hard time with impromptu teaching.

I'm at a pie contest with my 12 year daughter. Hers is the only good sweet pie. The vast majority of Utahns create neausiatingly sweet pies. No depth. No balance. Sour, bitter, savory, salty, buttery, creamy? No. Just sugar layered on sugar.

Personally, I think this change is a bad one. Latter-day Saints are already lacking in understanding their religion and cutting lesson times in half will not help with that problem. We’ll see though!
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints@Ch_JesusChrist

In advance of the upcoming general conference leadership session (April 2, 2026), The First Presidency of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has announced upcoming adjustments to the Sunday class meeting schedule to support members in their efforts to be lifelong disciples of Jesus Christ. The adjustments will strengthen gospel learning in homes and congregations throughout the world. Beginning September 6, 2026, the alternating weekly schedule for Sunday School and quorum or class meetings will be replaced. Under the updated schedule: • Sunday School, Relief Society, elders quorum, Young Women and Aaronic Priesthood quorum meetings will be held each week. • Sacrament meeting will continue to be 60 minutes, followed by brief transition periods. • Sunday School and quorum and class meetings will each be 25 minutes. • Primary will continue every Sunday and will be 55 minutes, held while adults and youth attend their respective classes. • Where local circumstances necessitate, units may begin with Primary and quorum and class meetings and conclude with sacrament meeting. If you're a teacher and have been following 'Teaching in the Savior's Way' then you're already primed for 25 minutes. If not, it'll be a big adjustment for you
