Technical curiosity will get you far in this industry. The best people I've worked with or hired over the years have been the ones that genuinely want to understand how something works, learn from it and continue to push themselves. As frustrating as tech can be at times, there's probably no better time to try something new for free. Learn to code, vibe code a small / personal project, setup a free AWS account and spin up an instance, read up on LLMs...but learn something.

i’m British living in Australia who talks with technologists from all over the world. i don’t have a “home region” as far as X is concerned. i’m also not monetised so this a moot point but if i was receiving a revenue i’d be a bit annoyed rn.

Starting Thursday, we'll be updating our revenue sharing incentives to better reward the content we want on X: We will be giving more weight to impressions from your home region—to encourage content that resonates with people in your country, in neighboring countries and people who speak your language. While we appreciate everyone's opinion on American politics, we hope this will disincentivize gaming the attention of US or Japanese accounts and instead, drive diverse conversations on the platform. We invite creators to start building an audience locally. X will be a much richer community when there's relevant posts for people in all parts of the world.

Those are two very different things. If an app or service is asking you to provide or enroll face identification / biometrics for them to process, the yes you are tied to however they handle that data. This post and Reddit’s potential implementation would use native Face ID / Touch ID authentication on iOS devices which again, is limited to a pass/fail auth result. Secure enclave has been around since Touch ID came out for the iPhone 5s: support.apple.com/guide/security…

@bitflip @birdabo I've heard this same line repeated over countless apps. 'It doesn't leave your device, it isn't uploaded, etc' and then a data breach happened for Discord that revealed, hey, they're lying! As per fuckin' usual!

are you paying attention yet? Reddit’s CEO wants Face ID to prove you’re human before you post. the platform built on anonymity is asking users to scan their face to comment. Steve Huffman says it’s about fighting AI bots. he said they’ll never know your name. you don’t get both. either Reddit is anonymous or it collects biometrics. same company selling user data to OpenAI and Google now wants your face to fight the bots those companies trained. they’ll lose more users to this than they ever lost to bots.
