@deadalnix Calling this launch amateurish is hilarious considering it is going to the FUCKING MOON. Sorry the production value wasn’t good enough for you mouth breathers

NASA's Artemis II is a masterclass in what not to do. It was very amateurish, with potatoe quality cameras in the capsule for instance, but the problems are too numerous in a 6h livestream to list. I'll just select 2: 1. The liftoff, where the rocket move off camera and the cameraman is not ready. 2. The SRB separation, where the the crowd was the start of the show. It's no bad it looks like a student project thrown together hastily in a weekend. If the is representative of NASA's culture, and more importantly attention to details, I'm worried for the astronauts.

1. I was THRILLED to watch Artemis II launch yesterday. 2. The difference between NASA and SpaceX is unsettling. I'll just leave it at that.

I cannot even begin to fathom how tone deaf and insensitive this press conference is. Never mind a lot of what was said is just a public relations spin on heavily misrepresented crime numbers. A 7 month old was shot and killed in a stroller yesterday and you both thought it was a good idea to celebrate crime statistics today ? Absolutely disgraceful and exactly what I thought you would both do, but i thought you would have the decency to wait until next week. @NYCMayor @NYPDPC

@route_66_trans @2CynicAl65 Also weird when idiots who don’t know how to open the terminal on their computer say dumb things like “my occupation is dead due to AI”. Stick to the things you know about

@EbianTheDog @Yrouel86 But that difference largely reflects poorly on NASA, I think, especially when SpaceX's design process is explained.

Every time this comparison is made people disingenuously act as if Crew Dragon hasn't successfully completed 19 missions so far (20th ongoing) as if SpaceX didn't know what they were doing. Also the interface has been developed in close collaboration with astronauts.

@route_66_trans @2CynicAl65 It’s weird when you idiots don’t understand how much difficult everything is when you’re traveling in space as opposed to orbiting the earth. This one mission has achieved more than SpaceX ever has. But at least SpaceX has cool displays and 4k video. You people are a joke

@2CynicAl65 The bar SpaceX has set is light years beyond where NASA is…80’s cameras and communications is pitiful at best. Spare no expense with taxpayer money……and that’s the outcome.

@sunnyright I looked up Victor Glover as well. Frankly, out of concern for DEI. But he strikes me as pretty legit.

Victor Glover (pilot of Artemis II) was already a spacecraft pilot for SpaceX Crew-1. He is a naval captain who has had his naval aviator wings for 25 years. He has three (3) masters degrees, including in flight test engineering and systems engineering. He's been a test pilot since 2007. He has thousands of flight hours.

@gene_data03 @LGwiscochick @BrittRooted Six times. By the fifth time it barely even made top story on the news. The public thought it was all a waste of money. The goal was to beat Russia and that was done in ‘69. The question is really “why go again now instead of going to Mars?”

In 1969, we were listening to music on 8-track tapes and cassettes, there was no such thing as a cell phone or cordless phone, home microwaves were rare and expensive, color TVs were just coming onto the scene with no cable, streaming or remotes… and a “Moon-landing computer” had less processing power and memory than a cheap modern digital watch or toy. Do you believe we landed on the moon?

@LGwiscochick @TakeThatClouds @BrittRooted There’s videos. You can see the lunar landing sites with a powerful enough telescope. The lunar rover tracks are still there because there’s no atmosphere. You can look up all of these things. The last thing you should do is look up Dunning Kruger then have the day you deserve

Yeah it's in development. And so far the program to make a reusable craft has only cost around $3B. Less than the Artemis launch. And 1/30th thr cost of the Artemis program ($93B). Starship began in 2018 and already has successful landings. Artemis began in 2017 and we're burning $4B on one launch.

The reason the United States had to basically quit its incredible, iconic moon program and spend the next 40 years futzing around on a vestigial "ISS" doing high school-level science experiments is because the government had to come up with massive budget cuts to fund the mass importation and cradle-to-grave benefits of ~50 million noncitizens.
