That was a terrific speech in Parliament by Alison, and it is a great relief to see such honesty from our federal representatives about the bastardisation of the Sex Discrimination Act by the Gillard Government without proper scrutiny or objection from the then opposition under Tony Abbott. What was done to the SDA was a complete failure of the Australian Parliament, and it is about time Parliament took responsibility for fixing it. There are many many good things about Alison's Private Member's Bill, but if it is to go forward it must be scrutinised in a way the amendments of 2013 were not. The whole purpose of those amendments was to insert 'Gender Identity' into the Act. All the other new protected characteristics were just window dressing. That's why the definition of Sex was removed at the same time. The newly created protected characteristic of sexual orientation is meaningless, because men can (and do) have the 'Gender Identity' of lesbian in Australia. Because 'Gender' has no legally (or socially) comprehensible definition, so it follows that 'Gender Identity' also had no legally (or socially) comprehensible definition. Removing the definition of 'Sex' removed its top priority as a protected characteristic in the SDA, and put it on an equal legal footing to 'Gender Identity'. The very real fact of sex is now legally equivalent to the very unreal concept of 'Gender Identity'. The legally protected concept of 'GI' allows gross abuse that goes fast beyond men in women's single sex spaces, sports, and services. Legal 'Gender Identity' protections gives legal sanction to: - - Men who insist their children call him 'Mum' and their partners call themselves 'Lesbians'. In other words, Domestic Abuse. - Commonwealth Schools and federally funded community organisations to operate 'Queer Clubs' with activities for ages 12 to 25 based around sex and sexuality. A Paedophile's Paradise. - Men to claim medical assistance that will encourage their infants to suck on their nipples. CSA - Children to be put on a social, chemical, and surgical pathway to deny their sex and live a life of deception and extreme drug and medical dependence. Extreme Self Harm There are more harms that come to individuals and society from the concept of Gender Identity, and to leave it as a protected characteristic in a Commonwealth Act is unconscionable. Another consideration is that 'Gender Identity' has no limitation. Either in law or in the imagination of the most devoted believers in the concept. There is nothing to restricts a man from claiming he has the GI of a dog, or a tree. The amendments must go and full consideration must be given to the establishment of positive sex based rights for women, as well as comprehensive and inviolable safety protections for Australian children against this harmful ideology.
