@Johnrhymer5 @jaysncards @markvalorian Yeah, I've only played at least once a week for the past 43 years. And played in high school, college, and for a regional military team. And I know how physics works. If your weight is shifted there's not a damn thing you can do if you "feel contact on the calf." 🤡

@pride_husky @jaysncards @markvalorian Then you arent a soccer player. Because everyone else falls down and gets a free kick. In all seriousness he gets to decide where to put his foot down. He felt contact on the calf and let his foot slide down to the ankle. It was a red

A critical element that the "rulebook purists" arguing Balogun deserved a red card are conveniently overlooking: BALOGUN was the one who was challenged from behind. The Bosnian player played *through* Balogun from behind and placed himself in the path of Balogun's natural step. When he begins taking that step, Balogun has no idea the Bosnian player would even be in front of him. In that sense, you can't really even consider his move a "challenge." It was simply a step that incidentally landed in the same place the opponent's foot did. In fact, the reason Balogun's step came down so hard is *because* the Bosnian player challenged into him and knocked him off balance. This is not "reckless" or "excessive force" by any stretch of the imagination. The red card was *obviously* unjustified from the outset. The only thing FIFA got wrong here is not immediately suspending the red card after the match.

@rfinch03 @wwalsh It's not. Or it shouldn't be. Shoulder-to-shoulder is physical. This is just a foul. This BS is what keeps scoring down, resulting in a more boring product. You're the problem.

@wwalsh Don’t do this, this is physical soccer. If you’re not going to go through and fine every push or grab on every play, then leave it alone. We won and we move on.

Balogun was in on goal. He beat the defender and was about to score. No red card. No penalty. No yellow card. No foul. No review. The bizarre thing is that Fox Sports showed a replay that began just AFTER the defender let go of the arm. So weird. How could the officials miss this? And how could the TV crew miss it as well? @USMNT

Jadarian Price- who has not taken a snap in the NFL- already has the 14th most guaranteed money at RB. If SEA drafted him in the 1stR... a month after signing Wilson to a 550k contract & a year after giving Holani 24 touches... just to put him in a committee with them...
Hayden Winks@HaydenWinks

ESPN's Brady Henderson on Jadarian Price: "They did not draft Price with the thought that he'd become a high-volume starter right away. He will share time with Holani and Emanuel Wilson as Seattle waits for Zach Charbonnet to return." Great column here: espn.com/nfl/story/_/id…

@VigilantFox If you believe this, you believe the US has the most efficient healthcare system in the world. Because we have the best doctors. But we don't, bc of massive layers of self-interest, insurance and bureaucracy. The same way soccer suffers from about age 10 through 18.

Rob Gronkowski drops his theory on why Team USA always struggles in the World Cup. His take: the talent was never the problem. It’s where the talent goes. “I think football, our football in America, kind of ruined our soccer game… because all our best athletes play the game of American football.” “If those athletes started at a young age, like our wide receivers and DBs, they’re the best athletes in the world… everyone knows in America, you’re going to play football, you’re not going to play soccer.” “If we didn’t have American football, I believe that Team USA would be a top-three team in the world.” “That’s why I believe our women’s team is so good, because they get their best athletes to play right from the beginning… but we take away our [best male] soccer athletes, and we make them become American football players.” According to Gronk, the talent was always here. It just plays on Sundays.

@nehmdoge @Peter_Bukowski No it's not. They specifically made the "hot stove touch" a foul bc it makes for a terrible, boring game. That's why the NBA has become a better, faster game where skills and talent shine rather than thuggery. Maybe you haven't watched since the'90s?

@Viceroy_12 Ok. I'd be frustrated too if the defender kept grabbing and shoving me. Doesn't mean she did it "to draw a foul." Like she is creating some fake foul. The foul was already there.

@MiddleIsntBad @nwilborn19 That's actually a great comparison. Duncan & Kobe played essentially the exact same years. Kobe gets most of the rep, 40- year old guys all talk Kobe, yet I maintain Duncan was actually the better player. Not by a bunch, but better.

Being the best player doesn't make you the face of the league. She is like Tim Duncan. She is good but doesn't move the needle Aces and A'Ja average 12,000 fans a game Fever and Clark average 22,000 fans a game That is why Clark is the face of the league, and it's why the players hate her

@BiggWoodz13 @HbamBaby It's not a "sell job." JFC have none of you people ever reffed a game? You cannot place your hand in the offensive player's midsection and use it to prevent her progress. Stop being lazy and move your feet.

@nwilborn19 You're the problem. For real. To think basketball should be some kind of fight club where you have to go through the fire of taking a beating. That's some gang membership BS. Clark could be Gretzky. And you're out here rooting for the goons.

Caitlin Clark fans ain’t real, they want her to duck the smoke & that’s not how works in basketball. Every great goes through the fire but they wanna save her from hard fouls. Every great dealt with it. If she’s what they say she is she’ll find a way. If she ain’t. She won’t

@SerawitMo @TalbertSwan Right. You're essentially the '90s NBA guys who tried to keep basketball as ugly as possible by tough guy posturing BS bc Euro guys who actually had multifaceted skill sets were coming in as a threat. So you pretend "physical" is a skill. You're on the wrong side of history.

@TalbertSwan Sometimes Black people don't know when we're winning. We ARE targeting CC. We're showing how weak she is and had always been. She's a soft target. Keep skewering it. Don't try to end it prematurely. She is the gift that's keeping on giving.

MAGA has once again found a way to turn basketball into racial grievance. Black women are not “targeting” Caitlin Clark. They’re competing. The WNBA has always been a physical league. Hard fouls, tough defense, and intense rivalries aren’t evidence of targeting based on race, they’re evidence of elite competition. And let’s stop pretending Caitlin Clark is somehow unquestionably the best player in the league. She’s an exceptional talent with a bright future, but the WNBA didn’t begin when she arrived. A’ja Wilson is hands down the best and most dominant player in the game today. And there are other Black players whose resumes, accomplishments, and overall impact surpass Clark’s. What we’re witnessing isn’t an honest discussion about basketball. It’s the same old “Great White Hope” narrative that has been recycled for generations, elevating a white athlete by portraying Black excellence as jealousy, hostility, or resentment. Celebrate Caitlin Clark’s talent, but don’t manufacture a racist narrative that demonizes Black women simply because they refuse to treat her differently than every other player on the court. It’s basketball, not a MAGA culture war.

@hovah76 That's a foul from the jump. The second the defender puts a hand to her chest and rides her outside, that's a foul. If that's the standard defense in this league, then it sucks.

@MattLoveless No. Just no. High D line just means you'll get outrun to the long ball. Like Haiti vs Brazil. And if you're slow you have to run a lower D line, letting the O operate closer to the box. And what u call out of position might be the D not worrying about a guy who's offside.

I think my biggest objection to the offside rule is that a defender can benefit by being slower or out of position in relation to the attacker. If an attacker outruns a slow defender, he’s offside. If the defender is faster, he’s not. We should seek advantages, not negate them.

@BlackLabelAdvsr IMO, it's not that soccer isn't violent enough, it's that it's TOO physical. Honestly. The soccer I'm seeing in the WC is the equivalent of the NBA when they allowed all the handchecking and holding cutters. Stop calling a guy nicking a shinguard, start calling the grabbing.

Soccer will never be popular in America. What we’re seeing with the World Cup is a fad. Within months we will be addicted to the NFL again. Here’s why: - Soccer isn’t violent enough. - There’s way too much whining which goes against the American DNA. - The refs and rules seem incredibly arbitrary. - It’s in American to have a sports game end in a draw. It’s just wrong. - Hard to monetize. TV ads are nonexistent. I actually like this element but our American economy does not. - Did I mention there’s too much whining and faked injuries? Basically, what I’m saying is that soccer is a pretty wimpy sport. You can hate me for saying this but you know it’s the truth. I will continue enjoying the World Cup but we all know what happens next. Back to normal life!
