liberals treat this poem like it’s religious Hadith, because for them it basically is. But with them, “they” is always left extremely nebulous. And I’ve encountered it with liberals plenty when talking to them, where liberals will say that the “They” of this poem will come for me too, in spite of me actively and completely being in support of “They.”
It doesn’t faze liberals at all that this makes absolutely no sense. That whoever “They” are must have their supporters, their members of their own, who carry out, support, and enforce the purging or otherwise support it. For them, this poem is treated as a dogmatic kind of truth, and that somehow, the “me” of this poem applies to literally every human being in existence, even the supporters of “They.”
It’s quite a fascinating phenomenon when you really get into it and examine the beliefs behind it and how utterly incoherent it all is, and yet, it is still held in the same light that a Christian would hold the Gospel.
Dan Bongino posting this is also quite odd, as he seems to be fully in favor of the Admin having came for, arrested, and sentenced the communists. It does not seem to dawn on him that this poem exists for the express purpose of defending communism.
The entire point of its existence is specifically this, to get you to allow communists to exist and operate freely, and that anyone who wants to stop communists will eventually come for you, the reader, too. It really is a masterful propaganda work in terms of how much power it has had over people, but luckily it is quickly fading and probably won’t survive past Gen X.

I don't think young progressives even conceive of the idea that members of Congress are supposed to "bring money back" to their districts. They think in terms of national policy, like providing universal healthcare or childcare, not winning funds for specific pet projects.
