@Lawmom I’ve never seen anyone use any of these other than herein and that one makes a it of sense to keep because I’m not trading “herein” for “at other points in this document”. What a mouthful

I’ve watched most, if not all, of the clips posted on here of Afroman trial, and it’s got to be among the most entertaining trials I’ve seen. Also, excellent lawyering from Afroman’s attorney. Asking the witness if it’s believable that Afroman actually had an affair with the witness’s wife was quite the chess move. Not believable = not defamation/false light.

Those cops in Ohio should sue the lawyer who suggested they sue Afroman. They'll lose that case too but it'll also be funny.

@RobertFreundLaw A very fine line to walk as a litigator. How bad can I make my client look if it’s for their own good? Very delicate situation even in lower stakes litigation

Good spot to be in when your lawyers have to convince the jury that you're just stupid, not a fraudster.

Your piece is entirely about sports betting so why do you have a card as the cover art? Sorry but as a poker player I’m getting tired of it being compared to people just betting money on things they have absolutely no control over. Card games have been proven over and over to be games of skill. Yes they can still be problematic for gambling addicts but not the same as dropping 500 dollars on if you think LeBron will get a triple double on some random game night.

Last year, The Atlantic gave me $10K to gamble with. What started as a journalistic gimmick turned into something more... unnerving. My cover story on the online betting boom warping sports, culture, politics, and the psyches of millions of young men: theatlantic.com/magazine/2026/…

@questionableway Tax breaks are never going to give much to someone living in actual poverty because they pay the least taxes already, if any

the core problem with this bill is that the single mother making $60,000 should be the one getting the larger tax break, not the family making twice the median income. meanwhile someone in actual poverty gets very little to nothing at all
Cory Booker@CoryBooker

Matt. I hope we can discuss my bill. Someone making 900k would pay an additional $2,917 because we raise the top tax brackets from 35 and 37 percent to 41 and 43 percent. The median American family would indeed get an 85% tax cut. So a married couple with two kids earning 150 k would get to keep an additional $10,360 of their money. A Single Mom making 60K with one young child would keep an additional $5,693.
