Thank you, @RepJayapal, for calling out the harm children face in immigration court and for your leadership in pushing for due process. Children should never be forced to navigate complex legal proceedings alone, especially in a language they may not understand.

I have seen firsthand how absolutely shocking the “kids docket” is in immigration court, where young children are forced to represent themselves in a language they might not even understand. This is a cruel system that leads to lasting trauma. We must fix this.

Thank you @RepPaulTonko, for your leadership in calling attention to the harm prolonged detention causes kids. Detention is not care & every day a child remains there deepens instability and trauma. Children deserve due process and protection that centers their best interests.

Kids fleeing violence, war, and trafficking shouldn’t be treated like criminals and trapped in detention for months on end. But that’s what is happening right now under this administration. I joined my colleagues on the House floor to demand a stop to this cruelty.
