For people who didn't enjoy the Chibnall/Whittaker Doctor Who run, I'm curious when y'all stopped thinking/hoping it would pick up? I think I kept talking myself into thinking it would go in a direction I liked until Village of the Angels.

@scribblesscript I kinda always had a little hope it might pick up, but gave up on *trying* to like it about half way through resolution. I think around the scene where the dalek shoots the tank shell out of the air in slow motion.

@scribblesscript It was when Chibnall did the DWM interview where he said he had no plans to explore the timeless child after Flux and he didn’t know where the Doctor was from, that’s when the last sliver of hope that there might be some plan evaporated

@scribblesscript I think Spyfall Part 2 was when I gave up hope. It undermined both Missy’s arc and the 50th Anniversary, as well as, more importantly, having a terrible script.

@scribblesscript Arachnids. Honestly don't understand how anyone got through Ghost Monument to Tsuranga with hope intact, the worst run of four stories in Who history by an enormous margin. It did improve dramatically after that, but my faith in it ever being actually good was gone.

@scribblesscript End of flux for me. It did help that series 12 has some episode I legit really enjoyed, but realising how much was going on in flux and only one episode to go... The vanquishers was the last straw. Thank god for rtds return announcement.

@scribblesscript Kerblam, because after a run of very boring episodes the one that was mostly fun was depressingly corporate. For me Jodie’s era is mostly boring with a few offensive episodes and a few jewels.

@scribblesscript I kinda just keep going even if it's not clicking for me, because I take the "I'm a DW fan/supporter" seriously to the point of watching it even if I'm not liking it anymore. I thought things would be better with RTD and occasional Moffat's writing but it's still not clicking.

@scribblesscript Alarm bells at Ghost Monument, shock at Arachnids and Kerblams endings, slightly pick up in the second half of S11 before losing faith with the finale. Whirlwind of emotions throughout S12 with Fugitive giving me hope of a direction and Haunting being brilliant in its own right..

@scribblesscript I'm an eternal optimist, so The Timeless Children. By that point there were way too many squandered opportunities, and watching the show felt like something I did out of obligation than genuine enthusiasm for the show

@scribblesscript I’m constitutionally incapable of giving up hope on Doctor Who, but Arachnids was when I downgraded my hope to “maybe we’ll get neat stuff from guest writers sometimes.”

@scribblesscript The Matrix PowerPoint exposition in the Timeless Children. Before then I held on hope that it wasn't THAT bad and could all still be salvaged it just had more mediocrity than good. After that I became cynical

@scribblesscript I had hope for Series 11 until Arachnids and Tsuranga, then reignited it in the run-up for Series 12 - maybe Chibnall had learned from mistakes? That evaporated in Spyfall (Part 2), which had awful implications and exploded Gallifrey *again*.

the lesser of two evils actually has to be lesser
@scribblesscript Spyfall Part 2, I think, totally wrecked my hope it could turn out to be good overall. The second half of S11 had introduced a version of the how I could get behind, and then it was dashed by the finale. Spyfall parts 1 and 2 did the same thing at hyper-speed.

@scribblesscript Arachnids in the UK disappointed me a lot after an already questionable start, but I persevered. Tsuranga wants actually too bad for me, Kerblam was very good imo except for the morals at the end and Demons restored hope. For me it was the finale, it was abysmal tbh

@scribblesscript I distinctly remember seeing a lot of lukewarm praise for Ghost Monument while thinking “but that was so dull?” - and I gave up on Arachnids the moment I heard Chibnall was writing it, but I still vaguely thought it was all leading to something until Timeless Children.

@scribblesscript The Timeless Child for me. Until then I had chalked it all up to just not vibing with the era’s general malaise of mediocrity and milquetoast toothlessness. But then TTC showed that even when Chibnall went big and tried to say something, it was more of the same.

@scribblesscript Spyfall. something about the Doc exposing the Master as a POC to the literal nazis and later saying “good luck” to someone SHE KNOWS DIES IN A CONCENTRATION CAMP had me seriously wondering if Thirteen was meant to be a sociopath. just staggeringly inept writing

@scribblesscript When CC didn't stick the landing with series 12. He broke a fairly fundamental rule: if your whole season is spent laying out clues, don't make the ending unguessable. And the doily-CyberLords were just silly. Plus, I've seen Lost so could see what he ripped off from it.

@scribblesscript It was Arachnids for me. Not that story in particular but just so much meh up until that point. Kerblam definitely gave me hope while watching it but then let me down by the end. Fugitive of the Judoon was the next time I enjoyed an episode but I knew by then it was just a blip.

@scribblesscript Spyfall Pt. 2 but then Timeless Children. Like I tried going ‘maybe he’ll call back to this…? Maybe her weird bullshit will be character relevant…?’ And then by TC I was like “oh yeah no none of this matters at all does it?”
