@aquariusdays An old English teacher also made made us give up “I think” before writing what you think and “interesting” is a filler word for a stronger adjective

Young people are always told what not to do. But what should you do? Did you know that most public libraries have a Nintendo Switch to use? That parks show free movies at night? That there's a map of pickup basketball games? Nyc.gov/summer is a map of free and affordable things to do this summer that we made just for you. Because public programs mean nothing if you don't know how to access them.

Just filled my tank. In Texas, gas is $3.99 a gallon. Hey Gavin—the problem isn’t Chevron, it’s California’s stupid energy policies….

@VicVijayakumar I remember talking to the recruiter for that milestone and saying 100k. Then in final round interviews the SVP asked what I was expecting and I said 105k and he said ok and moved onto the next question. I thought I was the man 😂 I went from 76k to 105k when I got that role.

I remember the day my salary crossed $100k - I was overjoyed. Software dev making six figures. Teacher wife making $40k. I went to the rich people grocery store and bought us a tub of the fanciest olives. I didn’t even like olives. We were about to have a baby. Life was good.
ₕₐₘₚₜₒₙ@hamptonism

This might be a hot take but I know someone at meta who makes $400k a year and is quite literally capped at that number for life - likely will never get a promotion strong enough to change that. 9-5 until they’re what, 50? This is not living. No matter the salary.

@lindsay__stamp I was just thinking this. Graduated in 2015 and first salary was also 55k. Apparently that is 77k in 2026 which is 15k above the current U.S. median, and I was only 22. Crazy to zoom out & think about people raising families on this. Any savings for them is impossible.

@aspenkatana CIT is a hidden gem, in ‘24 I put all my house money into it & consistently got 3.85-4% interest the entire time I was saving for the down payment . I still use it… I went to transfer out a small amount in March & they upped my rate to 4% from 3.75% lol

Your emergency fund should 1000000% be in a hysa. I literally shop around every 6 months for a bank offering a higher interest rate than the current one and will switch. Currently with CIT bank though

One of the craziest things in my 20s was finding out that nearly every post college woman I knew somehow had a "mentor," ie a boomer male who went out of his way to professionally guide her
CHURRASCO SAUDADE@churrascooooo

there is no mentorship happening at the office unless you are a woman or a minority in which case there are internal special interest groups funded by the company specifically to build those relationships and advance your career

Meet Natalie. She makes six figures a year working one to two hours a week. She has no experience in hazardous waste disposal. No experience in landscaping. No experience in catering. But she won contracts in all three industries. Her first deal netted her $800 profit per pickup over five years. That's $10,000 net profit every year for making a few phone calls and submitting one proposal. Her second contract paid her $11,000 profit in two weeks. Her largest contract was $962,000 over five years. Her subcontractor charged her $700,000. She pocketed $262,000 for work she doesn't even do. What is it? Government contracting. She bids on jobs on sam . gov, finds subcontractors to do the actual work, and captures the spread between what the government pays her and what she pays her subs. The government is legally required to spend money with small businesses. You don't need experience. You don't even need money. You just need an LLC and an internet connection. In this episode Natalie: - Breaks down how she won her first contract bidding on something she'd never heard of - Shows me the exact AI prompts she uses to analyze 20-page government solicitations - Tells me why contracts under $350K don't require any past performance - Gives me the playbook for finding hungry subcontractors who actually deliver Why aren't more people doing this? @OBlue84 @mhp_guy @Mooserider6 I thought the special treatment ended in Jan 2025? Crazy that she’s somehow still winning contracts without “Radical And Wasteful Government DEI Programs And Preferencing” - how could she possibly be doing this??? Surely she has no skill? whitehouse.gov/presidential-a…

@mhp_guy @Mooserider6 It’s an important consideration. The government before Trump used to mandate a certain % of contracts go to minority/female owned businesses, making it significantly easier for someone meeting that criteria to get gov contracts. I’m interested if she addresses that in your talk

@TheSalonDon My issue is that the hotel credits are rarely worth it or else I would use them. The prices seem inflated on the portal vs booking direct. Idk if I’ll renew, I’ve had it since 2019.

@markyzaguirre I consistently went to the museums in Dallas and also Fort Worth for art. No comparison coming from Philly - the Philadelphia museum of art/ history of the city, nor would I expect it. The lack of culture is highlighted when you talk to the people - in conversation and mindsets
