A very special moment — nine years in the making. Nearly nine years ago, I joined PwC with a simple but ambitious question in mind: What is the true trust layer of public markets — and how do we evolve it for a digital world? Back then, that meant rethinking how we establish trust in public ledgers and financial infrastructure. Together, we achieved milestones that once seemed improbable: - The first alternative-coin implementation in a regulated bank - Authoring global audit guidance for crypto assets in banking, defining how trust, ownership, and amounts can be independently verified - Enabling the first two newly licensed banks worldwide built with DLT and blockchain at their core But today marks something even more profound. This week, Grant Thornton Switzerland has successfully executed the first-ever financial audit attestation on a blockchain. Using the Global Legal Entity Identifier Foundation (GLEIF) stack and the upgraded, post-quantum secure vLEI, Grant Thornton cryptographically attested the 2024 Income Statement and Balance Sheet of the Cardano Foundation directly on Cardano — in two on-chain transactions. For the first time, an audit opinion is: - Machine-verifiable - Cryptographically anchored - Publicly auditable - Cross-domain and tamper-resistant This is not symbolism. This is a structural shift in how financial trust can be established and verified. Blockchains — and Cardano in particular — are uniquely suited for non-speculative, institutional use cases like this: trust, verification, accountability, and permanence. This moment challenges long-standing assumptions about how audits, attestations, and public trust must work. For me personally, it closes one chapter — and opens a much larger one. From the Stake Pools block production PoV we are almost ready for a Hardfork. (we migrate from orange v9 into yellow v10 blocks) This doesn't mean all other layers and areas are that ready, especially if they have some dependencies and can't just use a provided node release binary. To any ambitious DRep, I would recommend familiarizing yourself with the various modules, layers and libraries that have critical-substance importance in the Cardano ecosystem. It looks like June will be the month that Cardano Node will reach 9.0. This means that Cardano is Chang fork ready and waiting for 70 percent of the SPOs to install the new node. Then, a hard fork can occur pushing Cardano into the Age of Voltaire. It's the most significant milestone in the history of Cardano and for the industry as a whole. Cardano will be a decentralized civilization spanning the entire world with millions of residents. We'll have the most advanced blockchain governance system, annual budgets, a treasury, and the wisdom of our entire community to guide us. It's been nearly ten years for some of us on this remarkable journey. I can't believe that in a single decade, we built a nation. I'm proud of all of you. Cardano gives me hope for our industry and the world. Let's spend the next decade making a big dent in the universe.
