@doctorow I'm full of admiration for that man's creative, imaginative spirit!

A reader just sent this five-year-old mini documentary about Roger, shot in his *wonderful* workshop. Watching it made me happy and sad and then happy again:

@TheGreenCooler Still watching for it in my email. Where do I submit it, please?
English

@AnneHawley THANK YOU SO MUCH, ANNE. You just wiped out $10,000 in medical debt! Don't forget to submit your receipt!
English

This is such a great idea!
I just donated to @ripmedicaldebt and abolished $100 in medical debt for every $1 I donated. Spread the word and give today ripmedicaldebt.org/donate/

@CanadaRobin I'm kind of cheating, since I've been car-free for a long time, but this is a great idea!

Today is Nov. 1, and I invite you to join me in a new initiative called #NoVehicleNovember. The challenge is simple: replace as many car trips as you can with walking, cycling, transit, or any other active or public transportation. Learn more at NoVehicleNovember.com

@PoliticalAdrift @The_Ace_Couple Reading Sherronda J. Brown's book totally opened my eyes to this truth.

@DNicholsAuthor After decades of writing and 7 years of professional editing, I'm beginning to think that writing can't be taught, but revising can.

I'm curious...
Do you feel writing talent is something a person is born with or can it be acquired along the way?

@bikeviewca @Multimodal718 Since I no longer drive myself, I find it terrifying riding with someone who picks up their phone.

@Joseph25069412 @bellachu10 And even if that single state is something they want to change later, it makes sense to live in a space a person can keep up and afford until then.
English

@AnneHawley @bellachu10 Yep. Over 40% of households in Seattle are single adults. More would be if the housing product was available.

I lived in a single room for most of my 20s and 30s and was happy with it; at first an SRO and then rented houses with friends. I would have been completely happy in a little studio apartment if I had been able to afford one. Giving people choices is good, actually.

@Bugs @SustainableTall It's not about "letting" people, minimum standards are important if we don't want a race to the bottom. Some people might be fine with micro apartments but most aren't! If we allow them inevitably they'll be filled with people who have no other choice.
English

@Jaywalking_rn @Bugs @SustainableTall If you allow them, the people that choose them will free up the supply of larger units that others want. It’s all about options
My home is 390 sq ft, and it’s very comfortable

Building smaller homes should mean a move away from 250m2 detached houses…
…not a move towards 22m2 apartments
