Rivian R2 Performance just earned a 105 MPGe combined EPA rating, identical to the Tesla Model Y Performance, despite weighing nearly 800 pounds more with a far boxier body. It also beats Tesla on range at 330 miles versus 306, which is not the matchup most people expected from a more utilitarian SUV.

Asked about R2's HVAC and whether a heat pump was out of scope, Wassym says R2 will actually have a heat pump across the entire lineup.
Combined with a larger compressor and a more efficient battery-coolant interface that reduces load on the refrigerant system, R2 can hold cabin comfort during DC fast charging even in hot summer conditions.

We almost couldn’t find a charger 😜 Driving Stats: Leg mileage - 65 miles Top speed - 69mph Arrival SOC - 50% (started at 100%) Average efficiency - 0.9mi/kWh Average temp - 50°F Wind Conditions - 5mph crosswind The next stretch is a dead zone from Fort Wayne to Indy so we will be deep charging and going over 100 miles between charges. The cross wind should turn to a tail wind and really help us!
