European ambassadors in Uganda, whose governments are funding a genocide in Gaza, somehow find the moral authority to condemn torture here. This is not about human rights. It is about power. They don’t believe we can fight for our rights ourselves! They do not see us as active participants in the struggle for our rights. They see us as passive spectators in it, mere beneficiaries of international charity handed to us by benevolent Europeans. This is colonialism 101. Colonialism justified itself with claims of seeking our emancipation; so its mission was to liberate us from the tyranny of our customs and the despotism of our chiefs and kings. It’s flag were the three Cs: Christianity (to emancipate our sounds from “devil worship”, yes our religions were called satanic), Commerce to liberate us from our poverty, and Civilization (to liberate us from our institutional backwardness). Today the three Cs have been renamed and repurposed for continued control of our affairs. Christianity has become democracy; commerce is now trade and investment (foreign direct investment that either displaces or stifles the growth of our local bourgeoisie) and civilization, the imposition of European bureaucratic systems on our societies. There are gross human rights abuses in Europe and North America but our ambassadors in their capitals are not lecturing and hectoring their leaders over this. Japan and South Korea are democracies who give us money but don’t indulge in these arrogant lectures. China funds our government but does not insist we become Chinese in our governance. India does similar. What is this in the European mind that gives them the feeling and entitlement to interfere in our internal affairs against international law - written by them? We are facing a problem of a racial superiority complex. This is deeply embedded in the conscious, sometimes subconscious and even unconscious European mind. It just comes naturally to them often without them noticing it. Africans do not need help from Europe. We need collaboration. We should seek to liberate Europeans from their racial superiority complex. We can do this by being bluntly honest with them. Ugandans deserve the right not to be tortured. But that is our domestic issue. It’s a war for us Ugandans to fight and win. When Europeans insert themselves in our struggles, they make local agency look like fifth columnists of foreign powers seeking regime change. This undermines the legitimacy of local activism. Dear Europeans, while i acknowledge the importance of international solidarity in our struggle, I reject the means you use. Issuing lectures, summons and threats to our governments is neither prudent nor desirable; it is neither effective nor necessary. On the contrary, it discredits local agency. For Ugandans (and all Africans) be wary of these interventions. On the face of it, they may look well intentioned and it is possible sometimes they are. But they are rarely helpful. Experience shows that they have done more harm than good. We can see their results in Libya, Somalia, Iraq, Syria, Afghanistan, - the list is endless.

The world is a very small place I tell young people. You never know who you will need tomorrow! Agathar has called me all sorts of things but I am praying she is fine and that she can come home to her children. She does not have to be my friend for me to wish her good health and safety! I find her extremely reckless but I think and hope a very kind @KagutaMuseveni can make a phone call to help get her out of Tanzania.

FROM INBOX! Some of these tales read like horror movies! ————— “Hi Professor. I have some story that I thought I should share with you. I recently visited a friend who has been detained at Mbuya military barracks prison for months now. The tales he had for me today were more disheartening. So, at Mbuya, they have two prisons, the lower prison (that side of the UPDF Referral Hospital) and the upper prison (at CMI). There is also an underground prison at CMI where they lock up people and they can't know whether its day or night. He told me that all those prisons are now very full to capacity. He told me there's a guy who was transferred to their prison from the underground where he had been for months (He only knew its been months because they reminded him the current date.) He recounted the horrors from the underground after he had been given time to adjust to a somewhat normal world where you can see sunlight) He had changed colour....became very pale and dark. He said there are two floors in the underground. The downer basement where they stay, and the upper basement where they are tortured. That he said there in the basement are both soldiers and civilians mostly from NUP (some of whom would be victims of the circumstance while others would be targeted.) That the man recounted how they pick up bodies of those who are brutally tortured, some of whom pass away after being tortured. That it becomes normal to wake up and the person next to you is no longer breathing. The torture happens from the upper floor of that basement and once they hear the noise from the terrors, they just know enough to be ready in case they are next. The situation is unimaginable...... that he also mentioned that once someone goes missing, they are either dead in some basements somewhere and their people will never know. Where my friend is, the place is full and they keep bringing prisoners ( suspects- that's what they call them) there's a man who has been there for 16months, he has never made a statement and he doesn't know why he is there. The situation is alarming. A lot is happening. I didn't know what to say to him. I didn't want to breakdown either...it would feel weird for an old man to cry before his friend. I just watched and listened. The tales are horrific.”

Let's close on the Edwin issue. I will share his text with you later. Now, let’s collectively ask Ladit, Hon. @Mukulaa, if he has seen the @nche_uganda directives on the use of Dr. titles for non-academic/honorary degrees. Sir, as a senior party leader of @NRMOnline and citizen, we hope you can comply with the directive and drop the misleading use of the title Dr. from your official and public representations, as @BalaamBarugahar has done. You still insert the title "Dr." in your campaign posters and, on your social media page, insert the false title of PhD." You also claim to be a Harvard Fellow. What school at Harvard are you a fellow at? As a Harvard-affiliated person, it would be easy for me to check if you gave us the school you are affiliated with. For your reference, Sir, see @nche_uganda directives below

Politics is funny! When I delivered an ambulance to the people of Kabale last week, some people here argued that it's because of campaigns. I was given a contract of 5 yrs. I also made a manifesto of what I will do in the 5 yrs. Did people expect me to do everything in one year?

My brother Timothy, I believe as a good journalist, you have a responsibility to provide accurate information to the public. It’s important to understand that a newly established entity is not the same as its predecessor that closed, even if they happen to share the same name. There are legal, operational, and historical differences between the two. Sharing these distinctions with your audience helps the public make informed decisions and encourages better understanding. As a journalist, you ought to always aim to clarify such facts for your readers.

Fellow Ugandans with your permission kindly allow me share that, it is easy to fall into negativity, especially when we see something good coming from someone or a government we may not agree with. But real maturity and love for our country means being able to celebrate what is positive, no matter who is responsible for it. We should always try to put positive thinking first and remember to put our country first. That is what true patriotism looks like. As educators, we often feel frustrated when people complete their education yet do not take time to find out accurate information or research what is really going on. This problem shows up clearly when people talk about @UG_Airlines without knowing its actual story. To be clear, Uganda once had an airline called Uganda National Airlines, which started in 1977 and stopped operating in 2001. The current Uganda Airlines is not the same company. It is a new airline that was registered in 2018, giving Uganda a fresh start in aviation. Every achievement it makes is new for this company. For example, when Uganda Airlines landed in the United Kingdom for the first time at London Gatwick yesterday, that was a new and historic achievement for this new company. Let us use this as a reminder to educate ourselves and find the facts before rushing to criticize. The best thing we can do is to learn, to stay positive, and to always put our country above personal feelings. That is how we help Uganda move forward.

History made! Uganda Airlines has safely touched down at London Gatwick Airport at exactly 17:01 — marking its first-ever landing on UK soil! A proud moment for Uganda and a giant leap in connecting our Pearl of Africa to the world. Congratulations to Uganda Airlines for making the dream take flight!

In all honesty, most languages are getting extinct. The future is about unity in most aspects, a global language. It's true that our identity is what makes us who we are,and it would be great to all keep our cultures, but the inevitable is that with time, almost all of it will get lost. If a particular trait doesn't increase the likelihood of survival, it gets lost, and so is different cultures.

Maybe it's what I suggested here in 2022, that the Ugandan economy is struggling, and so the only profitable economic activity left is 1) Praising the First Family 2) Praising government projects 3) Praising Big Men (political or business) 4) Running for MP

But the Church is way bigger and more important than it's earthly leaders. This is the Church of Christ. When we think about Church, think of John 3:16. Then you will know why Church. The Church is much bigger than any single religious tradition. The Church is you and me, with Christ as it's head
