Food insecurity is pervasive, affecting campuses nationwide with more than 1 in 5 medical students food insecure. We can and must do better from on-campus meal solutions to comprehensive financial aid overhaul. Students without means are in-need, and we can act now to help.

Some key findings: 👨🏾‍🎓, 🧑‍🧑‍🧒, 💸💨 Students of ethnoracial minority background, those with dependents, and those with significant financial need were all more likely to be food insecure. 🏦 Students with parental tuition assistance were less likely to be food insecure.

With more than 1 in 5 medical students estimated to be food insecure (double the US household average), academic medicine can and should do better for the future generation of physicians. An honor to co-lead with @PavanKhosla_ and a number of student/faculty leaders nationwide!
