@LynnClark1 Me and my ex sold our house after we retired, rented a bungalow and gave our daughter and her husband the deposit for their house. When I left my ex I took my share of what was left, which wasn't a lot , and I'm still renting.

Nice trip to IKEA with @TeddyCatPier today, yes he loves going there! Ladies when you find a man who loves shopping, and in IKEA as well, hold on to him he's a rare gem. It makes the experience so much better. My ex hated shopping in general especially IKEA. I'm so lucky now 🙂

I went to the care home today to retrieve my father’s belongings. This is what was presented to me. I had to ask twice for a private place to sort through it. I said nothing, nor will I name the “care” home. My father’s life was not garbage.

@gggirl924 In the UK it was 1979/80 before women has their own finances. Up until then their husbands even paid their taxes and got a bigger tax allowance and a child tax allowance. Maggie Thatcher changed that.

I would put my daughter‘s Christmas presents on layaway and pay for them weekly. Did you ever use layaway? Women couldn’t have a credit card on their own until 1970 without their husband signature🤬

I think if someone has a terminal illness in their 60s, they should be given their SP even if they haven't quite reached pension age.
