Oops: Gazans who were reported as killed “journalists,” male “nurses,” and “lawyers,” now claimed by Palestinian Islamic Jihad as their martyred commanders and militants.
Gabriel Epstein@GabrielEpsteinX

Mohammed Mohammed Nasser Kamel Abu Huweidi (ID#: 803434364, age 29), listed as a journalist for the privately owned al-Istiqlal news outlet, was a commander in PIJ’s Central Military Media Unit. Abu Huweidi was killed in a December 2023 airstrike.

This is one of my favorite anecdotes from this job. 36 years ago, President George HW Bush received the President of Bolivia, Jaime Paz (accompanied by his young sons) at the White House, and Paz gave Bush a golden family cross. Bush wrote Paz a characteristically gracious thank-you note and said that he would give instructions to return the family heirloom when one of the Paz boys became President. As fate would have it, one of them, Rodrigo Paz, was elected President of Bolivia last year. The Bush Library promptly contacted us, and yesterday in Doral @SecRubio returned the cross to the new President Paz with a copy of the note. And the best part? President Rodrigo Paz was able to share this story with his now 86-year-old father. Kudos to all, especially the @Bush41Library. Promises made, promises kept! 🇺🇸🤝🇧🇴

Many UN agencies have been largely captured by anti-Western ideologues, and the "Committee on the Elimination of Racial Discrimination" (CERD) is a great example. It overemphasizes real or perceived transgressions in prominent Western countries and whistles past the far worse abuses committed by non-Western countries. Since 2003, CERD formally expressed concern to Canada (21 times) the most. The US was 3rd with 16 expressions of concern. One of those was when the US Supreme Court ended affirmative action, a program that…discriminated based on race. Sudan, now amid its 2nd genocide since the late 1990s, received all of 4 communications from the experts at CERD (countries like Japan and Australia received more). China, currently ethnically cleansing its Uighur population, received 2 communications. Zimbabwe, which targeted mostly whites for violent farm invasions in the early 2000s and has discriminated against them ever since, received 1, the same as Sweden. So did South Africa, which has around 140 race-based acts of Parliament. Mauritania, where a significant percentage of the black African population is enslaved by the mixed Arab/Berber population, received 0 communications. Literal race-based slavery hasn’t made it onto the CERD experts’ radar yet. None of the Gulf Arab states received any communications. That’s notwithstanding the fact that many especially South Asians suffer serious labor abuses there, and discrimination against black African domestic workers is so bad that African governments periodically forbid their citizens from taking up such jobs. American media outlets and our own partisan "experts" credulously reporting on the CERD should take a few moments to ascertain whether it’s a body with genuine, unbiased expertise. It obviously isn’t.

A U.N.-backed panel of independent experts says racist hate speech by Trump and other American political leaders, along with a crackdown on immigration in the United States, have led to “grave human rights violations.” trib.al/QhSewrT

Mr. Rajagopal, how does a UNSC condemnation of Iranian regime aggression relate to your mandate on “the right to adequate housing”? By what authority can you use your UN account to declare a Security Council resolution “illegal”? The answer: none. Under the United Nations Charter, the body with primary responsibility for international peace and security is the Security Council. Why are you abusing your UN position and mandate to run interference for the murderous Islamic Regime in Iran? Why were you silent on their mass murder of tens of thousands of protesters? (See: unwatch.org/double-standar…) You and the other Special Rapporteurs have no adjudicatory or institutional authority whatsoever over the Security Council. You cannot invalidate, review, or rule on its resolutions. As a rapporteur, you are obliged to base findings on evidence, engage with governments, and report to the Human Rights Council — not to intervene in geopolitical disputes that have nothing whatsoever to do with your mandate on “the right to adequate housing.” By purporting to declare a Security Council resolution “illegal,” you have stepped outside your subject matter competence, and the United Nations institutional hierarchy. We remind you that under the Code of Conduct for Special Procedures (HRC Res. 5/2), you as a mandate-holders are obliged to to act with objectivity, moderation, and respect for your mandate. Accordingly, Mr. Rajagopal, as the UN’s Housing Rapporteur, you have has demonstrably acted in breached of your mandate. Your statement is ultra vires. By issuing sweeping legal judgments on Security Council decisions, and by overtly shilling for the murderous regime in Iran, your are politicizing your UN mandate and undermining the credibility of the entire UN human rights system. Your are trying to smuggle in political activism under the guide of human rights expertise. We call on you to take responsibility — and to immediately resign.

Francesca Albanese is a raging antisemite and a Hamas sympathizer. Her position at the UN is compatible with the UN’s deep and broad bias against Israel. She rightly earned those sanctions and is better fit for Hamas’ PR department.

I have gotten to know former Ambassador to the UN Food and Agriculture Organization Kip Tom over the last couple of years. He would make a great Executive Director of the World Food Program. POTUS and Waltz need someone trusted with experience who is motivated to drive change.

Cindy McCain stepping down from WFP is a huge opportunity for reform and consolidation inside the UN. The Trump administration needs to focus intensely on getting their nominee for Executive Director, cleaning house and forcing agency consolidation under reformed WFP roof.

🚨🚨Important announcement: In May 2024, I investigated Khaled Al Shouli, a Jordanian lawyer based in France and one of three individuals leading the International Criminal Court case against Israel. A dossier of evidence was subsequently submitted to French authorities, including counter-terrorism police. As a result, Mr Al Shouli’s assets were frozen pending investigation. I am now pleased to report that he is facing preliminary charges in France for allegedly using humanitarian aid to finance Hamas. It is now perfectly clear that the ICC case against Israel is a sham and that it was co-led by terrorists and their financiers. The Jewish Chronicle was the first publication to report on my findings. Related links are below in the first comment.

Your timely reminder that according to the Obama deal, in two years, Iran would be legally free to have a nuclear weapon forever. And note Rula Jebreal was the girlfriend of Roger Waters, the most despicable anti-Semite in pop culture, and is herself vicious Jew-hating garbage.
Rula Jebreal@rulajebreal

Your timely reminder that Obama negotiated a great deal with Iran (#JCPOA), which halted its nuclear program in its tracks, and did so without a war. Trump ENDED that deal (in 2018). Iran then resumed enriching uranium, and now here we are with another war of choice on our hands.

Hearing Iran will propose “token enrichment” — 20% enrichment for Tehran Research Reactor. 20% enrichment gets you 90% of the capability to weapons-grade uranium. Even Obama deferred this for 15 years. Biden didn’t permit it — Iran just did it anyway. Much worse than JCPOA.

I hope that the US has a higher bar for future deals. The OCHA deal lacks direct US oversight, fails to require vetting for US designated terrorists, and does not demand that the UN waive immunities in situations of criminality. w/@dpletka aei.org/op-eds/trump-a…

Working with @UNOCHA, together we’re raising the bar for humanitarian coordination: leaner operations, clearer roles, and measurable impact. We need WFP to bring food assistance into this new model.
