@WallStreetApes You're being paid with taxpayer money. Think about that. Want more money? Go into the private sector.

American went to college and got a Masters Degree. She worked hard, did all the right things and got a job as a teacher She just got her paycheck “I'm gonna cry. I'm actually gonna cry. I have a master's degree — I made more as a barista working in college” The national average for starting pay for a teacher right now is about $48,000. After taxes and health insurance you might very well struggle to even pay rent in a lot of American cities Having a Masters degree gives you an increase of about $2,700-$7,358 per year which is nice, but with things being as expensive as they are it might not make a huge difference

@NickKristof @elonmusk So, you're so concerned. Must mean you're creating a non-profit to replace what was removed, right? Feel free to share about it. Gather support. Get funding from people and foundations.

.@elonmusk says that no one can name a person who died from his aid cuts. In fact, I've met the kids who are dying, and I've talked to the families who lost children. In my columns, I've cited many, many names of people who have died because of Musk's aid cuts. A few examples: *Yamah Freeman was a 23-year-old woman who died in childbirth because Musk cut funding for the diesel for ambulances in her part of Liberia. She couldn't get to a hospital and died as people were carrying her there. I talked to her parents and sister in their village. *Gbessey Kiadu, age 1, died of malaria because of his cuts to malaria medication in Liberia. I talked to his mom in her village. *Ibrahim Koroma, an infant, died of AIDS in Sierra Leone after he interrupted HIV supplies. I talked to health workers who cared for him. *Achol Deng was an 8-year-old girl with HIV in South Sudan who died when Musk cut funding for the health care worker who provided her medicines. I talked to the healthcare workers. I could go on and on. In almost every village you go to in South Sudan, Uganda, Liberia, Sierra Leone or other countries I reported in, you find people dying because of aid cuts. I challenge Musk: Come with me on a reporting trip, and we'll talk to these moms and dads, and you'll see the dying children themselves. I think if you see the kids whose lives are at stake, maybe you'll change your mind.
Elon Musk@elonmusk

Exactly. And they cannot cite a single name of someone who died out of the “millions” they falsely claim have died. Not a single name!

@keithellison The Federal Government of Somalia, supported by African Union forces (AMISOM), continues to combat insurgents, while grappling with poverty and environmental disasters. Independence from who and what? Why are You - an American - celebrating them?

Melat Kiros: “We have socialism already. It’s in the roads we drive on, the schools we send our kids to, the fire stations we call upon. I’m just asking that we extend that security to our healthcare, to our housing, to our nutritional food, to our higher education so that we’re actually meeting the basic needs of everyday working families in this country”

@racle_rae Actually, they've been trying to tell Gen Z and Millenials to understand how important their local votes are to the overall economy. But they don't listen. Otherwise, we'd have economically conservative politicians in office.

@SSWorks No. That first worker is paying into a system that will supplement his retirement. The CEO doesn't need the supplement. Actually, once the CEO hits a salary, he shouldn't pay into the system at all.

Social Security Works ❌👑
A worker making $50,000 a year contributes to Social Security with 100% of their income. A CEO making $20 million a year contributes to Social Security with less than 1% of their income. Do you think it’s time to scrap the cap?

@lady_valor_07 I oppose a universal health insurance system for the US. I oppose a universal healthcare system where all employees are gov't employees, clinics and offices are run by the gov't, decisions for my care are decided by the gov't.

We don’t have an affordability crisis. We have an expectations crisis. These 1,000 square foot brick homes were printed in mass in suburban Detroit in the 1950s and 60s to support an exploding population. This would solve our housing problem. But no one wants this anymore.

🚨#BREAKING: A former Air Force engineer in Virginia has been arrested after he allegedly damaged / destroyed over a dozen Flock cameras. When asked why, he said the Flock cams were, "unconstitutional and a violation of my and others’ Fourth Amendment rights." He allegedly tossed them off major highways where they shattered. Police caught the former engineer by using the very Flock cams he was destroying to track him down.

THE POLITICAL ESTABLISHMENT IS GETTING NERVOUS  The political establishment — Democratic and Republican — is getting nervous. So are the Oligarchs and the corporate media they own.   The world they dominate is beginning to shake beneath them. Change is coming.  And they don’t like it. What we saw on Tuesday in New York, what we are seeing all across the country, is that ordinary people are getting involved in the political process, are taking on establishment candidates, and are winning. What is particularly frightening to the establishment is that many of the candidates, and their supporters, are young. The future belongs to them and they want that future to look very different from what it is today. It’s not complicated. Progressives and democratic socialists are winning elections because the vast majority of the American people understand that status quo politics and policies are not working.  You don’t have to be a PhD in economics to know that in America today the very rich are getting much richer while the vast majority of our people are struggling to pay for the basic necessities — healthcare, housing, food, education and utilities. You don’t have to be a sociologist to realize that the younger generation will likely have a lower standard of living than their parents.  You don’t need to be a political scientist to understand that we have a corrupt campaign finance system that allows billionaires and their super PACS to buy elections, undermine democracy, and protect their privileged positions.  The American people, across the political spectrum, are rejecting the establishment’s  uber-capitalist ideology, value system and priorities.  They want an economy and a government that works for all, not just wealthy campaign contributors.  More and more Americans refuse to accept the current reality that: One man, Mr. Musk, owns more than three times as much wealth as the bottom half of our society.  That billionaires and large profitable corporations often pay an effective tax rate lower than truck drivers or nurses. They are demanding that the billionaire class starts paying their fair share of taxes. We are the only major country not to guarantee health care to all as a human right. They want Medicare for All.   Tens of millions of workers are earning starvation wages. They want to raise the minimum wage to a living wage and make it easier for workers to join unions. Big Tech and the wealthiest people on earth are aggressively pushing AI and robotics, the most transformative technologies in history, without public input. They want these technologies to benefit all, not just the handful of billionaires who own the industry.   Nearly 800,000 Americans are homeless, and more than 20 million households are spending 50% or more of their limited incomes on housing. They want a freeze on rent and the construction of millions of units of low income and affordable housing.

@GavinNewsom You argued that a statewide billionaire tax would harm innovation and cause wealthy people to flee California. What the hell do you think will happen if you do it nationally? Open the door to mediocrity and outsourcing innovation and paying 2x more for it.

It's time for a national billionaires tax and a new social contract. 10% of Americans own two-thirds of the wealth. Wages have stagnated. The cost of living has skyrocketed.  The system is fundamentally broken. The federal tax code, a corporate code, and an inheritance code were written for a different set of Americans.  It’s time for an economic reset. @gavinnewsom" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">substack.com/@gavinnewsom
