🚨 On #ClinicalTrialsDay, we’re spotlighting key research! This study on community-acquired pneumonia in Canadian hospitals found that patients in community hospitals were older, frailer, had more co-morbidities, and faced higher risks of organ failure. (1/3)

To address this uncertainty, the authors investigated whether delays in blood processing of up to 72 hours affect the stability of biomarkers that are commonly studied in critically ill patients.

A potential solution is a "simplified" approach, where samples are collected at the bedside and shipped to a central site for processing. While this could enhance community hospital participation, the impact of processing delays on biomarker stability is uncertain.
