Often, the messages I receive are truly quite humbling. Some of our colleagues really did have a highly traumatic time over the weekend and it is so lovely to receive and be able to share message of thanks and support for the work that they did. Thank you all. #ThinBlueLine 🚨

@LucyGoBag It’s the same everywhere. And absolute silence from those responsible. And the man that gutted the Met will now decide how to nationalise Policing. It’s time to leave.

Nottingham Inquiry showing definitively how hollowed out and at breaking point policing is. Under resourced. New staff working unsupervised. And a cruel callousness that comes from war zone fatigue

The impact of trolling on mental health- One of my IG reels reached the wrong side of social media and I've been receiving a lot of horrible comments. A lot of them telling me I look manly and I should stay off social media if comments offend me. I've got to be honest, waking up to 100's of comments- half of which are hurtful does have an effect. And I've felt pretty low for a few days. But I'm not going to 'get off social media'. My content is supposed to send a positive message about strength. I get lovely messages from people saying that the fitness content has helped or inspired them as well as parents messaging me saying their daughters want to grow up to be strong. This is a huge part of why I keep posting, I want young girls to have strong women role models. I don't want sporty girls to feel self conscious of their bodies like I did as an athletic kid. I want girls to know that they can achieve amazing things and for boys to see that too. Trolling is sadly part of social media BUT they need to be accountable for the things they say online. So rather than feeling down, I'm posting a photo where I felt strong and confident. This woman doesn't let trolls stop her...

Eight years ago, I got a call from my Skipper asking if I was free to head to Wiltshire on Mutual Aid. The Novichok attack had happened days earlier and Wiltshire Police desperately needed help with extensive crime scenes. What followed were ten fifteen hour night shifts in the snow. It’s funny though, I don’t really remember the cold or being tired, but I do remember the Chief Constable turning up out of the blue one night at 0300. He arrived on his own, with hot food for us all. He didn’t rush off, he made sure we’d been able to resource winter clothing and that we were being fed properly and that as far as we could be, ‘enjoying’ ourselves. He stayed for about an hour and we talked about the complexities of the investigation his Force was facing. Eventually he made his apologies and left, he was back in for an early turn briefing and needed a few hours rest. Once again this weekend we will see hundreds of Police Officers from across the country travel to London to help with multiple Policing operations on Mutual Aid. It’d be good to see some visible leadership in and around what will no doubt be some very challenging incidents. #ThinBlueLine 🚨

@TomGaymor @nickyjanehill Your committed wife and thousands of old bill just 'make it work' because they are kind, generous and professional. They shouldn't have to. The government and @SadiqKhan should do more to improve tge working conditions inc pay. I believe it's currently unsustainable and dangerous

@nickyjanehill It is dangerous, operating off 5/6 hours sleep! There are no extra officers, these are the pressures officers are under and it is unsustainable.

So far this week my wife has worked 16 hrs + 20 hrs on her 2 ‘duty’ days. Surrounded by a failing infrastructure and threadbare resources, these are the hrs police officers are working. Goodwill keeps the wheels turning but it has a huge impact on officers and their families 👏🏼

A mid week shout out to an often seen but less talked about specialism; Public Order Evidence Gatherers. 📸 Always in the thick of it, their role is a simple, but vital one; gather the best evidence of the worst offence. A highly rewarding role, thank you all! #ThinBlueLine 🚨

Senior civil servant caught in possession of appalling baby r#pe images avoids prison. A senior civil servant has avoided a prison sentence after admitting possessing hundreds of indecent images of children including over 100 showing the r#pe and abuse of babies. Marco Salzedo, 59, was sentenced at Norwich Magistrates' Court yesterday after pleading guilty to charges relating to the possession of child abuse images. Salzedo, from Aylsham, Norfolk, worked for the Cabinet Office at the time of his arrest. He was sentenced to a 12‑month community order, ordered to carry out 120 hours of unpaid work and placed on the sex offenders register for five years. The offences took place between July 2021 and April 2025, when Salzedo was arrested on suspicion of making/possessing indecent images of children. He was charged in November, and the following month he admitted possessing 312 images and videos of children, 139 of which were category A, including images of babies. He appeared in court yesterday to be sentenced.

Over the past few weeks it’s been a real shame to see some prominent accounts be lost to scammers. On the plus side, it’s given me the opportunity to build them in #Lego to promote their excellent work! Please give the awesome @BritishArmy Paramedic @NatashaMDay a follow! ✅🚨

I’ve made the very tough and not easy decision to pull out of the marathon this year. I’m still unable to walk without limping and severe pain in my hip. It’s looking more likely I have a stress fracture in the neck of my femur. Thank you to @veterans_with_dogs for understanding and I will continue to support them throughout the year. And thank YOU to anyone who has already donated! Ur money will not be wasted I assure you and the charity will make great use of it. To say I am gutted is an understatement 😞😢

Just your infrequent reminder that since 2014 2/3rds of London’s Police Stations have closed. Neighbourhood teams parade no where near their neighbourhood, and response teams respond from different boroughs. Some are moth balled, others are pizza restaurants… #ThinBlueLine 🚨

Please, please stop with the numbers nonsense. They’re not extra. They’re the same overworked, overstretched officers, staff and volunteers who already have far too much on their plates. Everything can’t be a priority.
Home Office@ukhomeoffice

We are putting 13,000 extra officers, PCSOs and special constables into neighbourhood roles – with a named, contactable officer, so you can report crime and get a response within 72 hours.

Will? Or is this a target? Current charter time for serious incidents is 15 mins - successive governments have closed police stations & moved them further away from communities = increased response times. Larger areas to police with less officers = increased response times.
Home Office@ukhomeoffice

Police forces will reach serious incidents within 15 minutes and answer 999 calls in 10 seconds. 13,000 more neighbourhood police to be hired and every community will have a named, contactable officer to fight shoplifting, drug dealing, phone theft and anti-social behaviour.

Right now, criminals are outsmarting some police forces. We're changing that. Like doctors and lawyers, every officer in England and Wales will need a Licence to Practise so they have the skills needed to fight crime in your community.

Frontline police officers barely have time to eat and sleep responding to demand, there is little/no provision for proactive policing and complex investigation. All police officers want is to be properly funded and resourced, it has nothing to do with being outsmarted!
