@TheGoldenHart @ArmedJ0y A business principle I've learned, taking equity from shareholders is always more expensive than debt if you are successful. At least with debt it's a fixed rate and you can pay it down eventually. Getting rid of shareholders is hard and costs a lot of money.

@CSDestroyer1934 @ArmedJ0y That customer service exists *because* they don't have to chase an infinite line to keep a bunch of cannibalistic shareholders happy every single year. Like when one of my sensors' plugs wigged out on me out of warranty, they just gave me a new one no hassle.

Valve is funny because they're a hyper capitalist private company who has a not-literal, but functional monopoly on PC gaming. But their internal company policy is practically communist, where no one is forced to do anything and they just work on whatever they feel like. Resulting in probably the best company in the world.

@TheStairLord @jaspwork Call me a George Orwell enjoyer, but someone who actively makes a server a miserable experience to be in should get the boot anyway, even if they've broken no rules. They're the kinds of people who sits on the edge of the rules and never act in good faith, and they know it.

@jaspwork The type of person who talks like this on discord is very special and is always 16 or younger. Every server has one, the mod teams hate their ass, but they don't actually break any rules and there's no proof they're under the 18+ age requirement so they must stay for now.

@rokurokubi543 @tsekino0530 The NFA was useless anyway for its time because the liquor bootlegging and smuggling gangs all fell apart once the 18th Amendment (liquor ban) was repealed. The regulations on short barreled rifles and sawed off shotguns are a legacy carryover from that time

@rokurokubi543 @tsekino0530 They wanted to include all concealable guns, but Congress realized the law would be very unpopular because a lot of people (including them) carried handguns for protection. They passed the NFA anyway, mostly to signal they were "doing something" about the liquor prohibition gangs

@MorosKostas Unfortunately there is more implied empathy to go around in a situation where a victim is killed by a criminal, as opposed to when a potential victim stops a potential criminal. Even a justified pulling of the trigger is heavy on the heart, but few talk about that toll.

The mistake she and other parents of victims make is they assume the pro-2A side has no empathy, and if we could just understand the unimaginable grief mothers like her go through after losing their child to a school shooting, we would all agree and pass more gun control. That's just not correct. I have a child of my own, do you think I'm OK with the idea of an armed lunatic in her school? Of course not. The disconnect is we reject your premise. Making good people helpless through disarmament does not equate to safety. Instead, we should meaningfully secure our schools and other truly sensitive places.

States want to regulate or ban 3D printers entirely, either due to 3D printed guns, or just using them as an excuse. That appears to be the direction they are all going.

@MorosKostas Gamers Nexus covered how the YouTube AI summaries also have an agenda. They had one video that was absolutely critical of a product with no redeeming qualities about it, and the AI summary said "...while they may have reservations about it, they reassure that it is good value."

@guncadindex I was in the "I should be undetectable" mindset once, but with stuff like AI cams and online footprint scrapers at this point, there's an expectation that everyone is on a list somewhere. Best to show that you stick to your principles when you are eventually uncovered.

I am still pro restoring the Civilian Marksmanship Program to it's former glory. You get a surplus M4 for basically nothing, steeply discounted ammo, and free access to former and current military marksmanship trainers. As it was it intended.
