@DavidM_Friedman 'What about Hamas' isn't really a convincing argument. There's no question in people's minds that Hamas is a murderous death cult. Israel, in contrast, makes claims to be a progressive democracy. When Israel lowers itself to the level of Hamas, people mourn what it could be.

I am embarrassed that you are part of North America. The Palestinian Authority punishes by death anyone who sells or even brokers a sale of land to a Jew. Haven’t heard you condemn that. Or Hamas’ death penalty for gays. Or the PA’s monetary stipend for terrorists. Palestinian murderers sit in jail today in Israeli prisons, knowing that they will be freed one day in exchange for kidnapped Israeli civilians. Doesn’t it make sense to alter that dynamic? You were once a great country. No longer.

Canada joins its partners in expressing concern about the death penalty law passed by the Israeli Knesset that, in practice, systematically targets Palestinians.

@SophieBennettUK @dp66 @MarkJLittlewood It would be indoctrination if teachers were pushing political views in class. That is not what is being talked about here. Those getting angry here fail to see difference between classroom practice and an individual's choice to express their politics through union membership.

@dp66 @ChangingMinds80 @MarkJLittlewood There should be total neutrality with OTHER PEOPLE’s CHILDREN. Free speech in your own time, sure. But trashing reform to someone else’s kids is not free speech. It’s indoctrination.

@GustavPaulUK @MarkJLittlewood Ah, so i guess that means delegate your political decisions to your boss? Public sector employees have the same rights of political expression as any other individual. Btw - Does the name calling make you feel better about life?

@elliehodges62 There's a quite clear distinction between what a teacher delivers in class and any political/union activity they partake in out of the class. Unions are political by their nature. Unless you propose to ban teachers from union membership or political affiliation?

🚨 BREAKING 🚨 I’ve got my hands on the 2026 conference agenda for the National Education Union the UK’s largest teaching union. It states: “Reaffirm the union’s opposition to all forms of racism, fascism and far-right extremism, including the divisive politics promoted by Reform UK.” And then: “The trade union movement must throw its full weight behind stopping a Reform UK government.” This isn’t neutral. It’s the UK’s largest teaching union taking a clear position against a political party while Zack Polanski has been invited to speak at conference. And these are the people shaping what’s happening in our classrooms. Have a look at this material yourself⬇️

Benjamin Netanyahu goes fully psychotic and tells the world that he will single-handedly change the entire face of the Middle East, and that Israel will attack any country at any time. “We will surprise them instead of them surprising us.” “We are the attacking side. We are the initiating side.” “We take the initiative. We attack.”

@jones_pdj @JamesMelville The IRA blew up plenty of women and children. Never in a million years would that have justified raising Belfast to the ground.

@JamesMelville The blood of those children lays at the feet of the murderous extremist Hamas, and for you to make the comparison with the IRA is so ridiculous. The IRA never butchered women and children like Hamas have done. War is a dirty business, so don't start it.

Gaza. Absolutely flattened. Thousands of innocent civilians have died. Thousands of children died. And before anyone says “But, Hamas…). Imagine if Britain had done the same to Ireland after the IRA bombings? You cannot justify this scale of inhumanity.

@JacobEdwardInc You mean that as you matured you began to appreciate the value of learning and education. Seems like an observation about human development, rather than the quality of schooling.

90% of what I learned from 1st to 12th grade was useless and/or forgotten. School taught me that reading and learning sucks, because everything that school forced me to read and learn about, sucked. It wasn’t until I was out of school, that I actually fell in love with learning. This is something I keep thinking about as my kids enter school age…

@ActaNonVerbaANW @LauraTrottMP Staff cost money. When the student is still non compliant in the separate, strict location (internal suspension), suspension is all schools have left.

@LauraTrottMP "They're going to wander the streets, they're prone to falling into violence, danger, being groomed, becoming mules in gangs." The best place for non-violent suspension is in schools, housed in a separate, strict location with trained staff.

I do not agree with this: 1. Poor behaviour is one of the main issues facing schools at the moment. Children need clear boundaries & must understand there are consequences for poor behaviour. Weakening those consequences risks a further erosion of standards. 2. This is micromanagement from the centre and the opposite of what I would do if I was Education Secretary. 3. The schools that will suffer most are weaker schools. It will encourage them to reduce headline suspension figures, rather than properly tackling poor behaviour. 4.I cannot believe one of the main justifications being used is that children sent home may retreat to social media 🤯 If that is genuinely a concern, Labour should stop sitting on the fence and back our ban for goodness sake.
