Today I coached my sons final race. Since elementary, we’ve slowly put pieces to the puzzle together and it ended today at Masters. I couldn’t be any prouder to call you my son and the greatest track and field athlete I’ve ever coached. I love you, son. @MichaelDeTamble

Big news in high school cross country and track .... longtime Corona del Mar coach Bill Sumner will retire. Sumner has been in charge at CdM since 1984, and has won 18 CIFSS titles and 9 state titles. @AndrewTurnerTCN has it first for @TheDailyPilot. latimes.com/socal/daily-pi…

At Mt Carmel, NATE WILLIAMS jumped into the s hook record book in the long jump. Former mark was 21’10 (2022). New standard is now 22’1/4.

At Mt Carmel, MALIA STRANGE broke 3 individual school records in her first official meet as a Knight! 100m hurdles (14.99), long jump (18’5), and triple jump (38’11). She also anchored the school record 4x100m relay (49.50). What a debut!

Coaches … it’s important to remember that “it takes a village!” There are multiple people teaching/coaching the athlete, the student, AND the person. Most importantly, it takes a motivated, driven athlete to put all the pieces together. Shout out to the great parents, too!

What does your Dual Meet entries look like?

Sterling, a senior, threw a massive personal-best 59-4! That throw broke an 11-year old school record (Jalen Morgan, 57-2) and would have finished 3rd at the state meet last year! He also threw a 9-foot personal-best in the discus (161-8) to cap off his monster day.
