While I don't consider myself to be "rich", I know that I do pretty well compared to most people. I'm paid on salary, and I work my ass off, often putting in 70-80 hour work weeks; I'd make more working hourly at McDonald's a lot of times. I also pay more in taxes than a lot of people make in a year. I paid for my kids' college, I save for my own retirement. I'm not banking on Social Security. I don't necessarily mind paying taxes - provided they legitimately go to the intended purpose. I'd even be OK paying a little more for true "needs". That said: it really pisses me off when politicians take my tax money and utterly squander it, with no oversight and no accountability, and then come back and ask for more. To them, it's "free money" - "The Rich™" can afford it, after all. * Massive projects that never get built * School infrastructure funding that never seems to fix the buildings * Foreign "aid" that funnels back to political campaigns * Daycare programs with no children * Insurance subsidies that go to insurance companies, while rates increase * Student loans that enrich Universities who raise rates, while having $Billions in endowments * Homeless programs that only increase homelessness * Housing projects that build no homes * Research grants that encourage a predetermined result I could go on. We're never allowed to know where our money goes, and if we question it, we're called selfish/racist/*phobic. Criminals walk free, and law-abiding people ultimately get punished with stricter laws "for our safety". On the rare occasion somebody finds a major issue, politicians hold Kabuki Theater show hearings, and nothing changes. We continue electing politicians who promise results, only to ignore us once they're in office. Something needs to change. I'm not sure it ever will.

Yes, pills can stay in your system, especially if you're taking a prescription. You're still responsible for not driving while impaired. We don't know what, if anything, he had in his system. He failed the field test which, given the circumstances, was a reasonable thing for police to perform.

Florida’s implied consent law sets a urine trap Refuse the piss test: 1-year suspension + misdemeanor charge. Tiger blew .000 - still hit with DUI. Pills linger for weeks in urine This is state-sponsored false-incrimination End the outdated urine witch-hunt. #TigerWoods

I've flown out of Logan twice in the past few weeks, and there were absolutely ZERO issues quickly getting through security. The TSA folks were all great, and they appreciated my thanks to them for coming to work without pay. Their professionalism in spite of their personal hardship is incredible.

There's a huge downside to fame and fortune, especially among elite athletes. Tiger Woods has been in the public eye since he was two years old. Does anybody else think he's suffering from psychological issues, perhaps severe depression? He's almost certainly still dealing with prescription drug addiction; he's had an incredible number of surgeries over the years when opiate painkillers were the norm. In 2020 he went to rehab for it. He had everything at one point: the 🐐 golfer of his generation, (arguably of all time), a gorgeous wife and family, more money than he could ever spend... He utterly changed golf as we know it with his physical process; today's golfers almost all say he was their influence. Despite all that, he threw it away by cheating on his wife, and, when she confronted him, he drove away, crashing his car and losing almost everything from the public fallout. He's had several other accidents after that. Many of us look at these athletes and think they have it all. I feel a lot of them would give anything to have a "normal" life. Tiger Woods can't go ANYWHERE without a mass of people following him - taking pictures, looking for autographs, or screaming at him for past issues. I really feel sorry for him, and hope he can get the help he so clearly needs.

Immigration and Customs Enforcement sent $122,515 to the town of Carroll this month. The payment follows Carroll’s decision to join the Department of Homeland Security's Task Force Model, also known as the 287(g) program. Their participation means its four full-time police officers are committed to assisting ICE in federal immigration enforcement. They did just that in December when they detained seven people in Twin Mountain for ICE. NHPR’s Morning Edition host Rick Ganley spoke with investigative reporter Sammy Sussman, who broke the news about Carroll’s payment from ICE for WIRED. bit.ly/4lVe8cx

@shipwreckedcrew Lots of people seem to be happy cutting their noses off to spite their faces. Do we need better candidates? Yeah. Problem is: the best candidates don't WANT that job. Barring another viable candidate, it's either stick with "meh", or accept certain defeat.

$1.5 million here.... $1.5 million there... Pretty soon, you're talking about "real money".... Every single dollar stolen is stolen from taxpayers. The politicians don't care, because it's not "their" money (and a lot of it comes back to them in "small dollar" campaign donations.) The government employees don't care, because it's not "their" money.

If Speaker Johnson wants to fund the entirety of ICE and CBP, we need firm commitments that will rein in their lawlessness. - No masks. - No unidentified agents. - No entries without judicial warrants. - Full cooperation with independent investigations, including the investigations into the murders of Renee Good and Alex Pretti. We won't give ICE and CBP a blank check to continue terrorizing American communities.
Speaker Mike Johnson@SpeakerJohnson

House Republicans are NOT going to be part of any effort to reopen our borders or stop immigration enforcement. Chuck Schumer’s gambit last night is a joke. We must fully fund Homeland Security and support our brave law enforcement heroes who keep Americans safe.

Democrats backed off from taking 5 funding bills hostage … to taking DHS funding hostage .. to funding everything at DHS but ICE/CPB. But ICE & CPB are funded thorough 2029 in the One Big Beautiful Bill. So they’re taking NOTHING hostage. Yet House Rs won’t take the win. Unbelievable

Tiger Woods under arrest for DUI after refusing a urinalysis at the police station; he's being held in jail for 8 hours for refusing. He blew 0.0 on the breathalyzer. No injuries. Police say that he was driving at a high rate of speed, and swerved to avoid hitting a truck towing a trailer in front of him that was slowing down to pull into a driveway. He clipped the back of the trailer, and his vehicle rolled on the driver's side. He climbed out of the passenger side of the vehicle. Police determined he exhibited signs of impairment at the scene, and after multiple tests, took him into custody for further testing, where he declined the urinalysis. @NHnewsUpdate She always "has a plan" that ultimately involves more government spending and higher taxes. When it's not enough, she comes up with another plan, requiring even MORE spending, and higher taxes. The taxes are always on "The Rich™" - which never includes her own wealth.

President Trump has made the decision that echoes what TSA’s frontline employees and the millions of Americans enduring terrible wait times at our airports are saying: the Democrat DHS shutdown has become an emergency. TSA officers are now losing their homes and cars, struggling to put food on the table, and are experiencing all-around financial catastrophe because of this extended shutdown, the 3rd they’ve experienced in just 6 months. Travelers are facing record breaking wait times stretching hours and hours long causing missed flights, unnecessary delays, and booking headaches. This crisis is a direct result of chaos unleashed on the American people by Democrats in Congress. Today, at the direction of President Trump and @SecMullinDHS, TSA has immediately begun the process of paying its workforce. TSA officers should begin seeing paychecks as early as Monday, March 30. TSA is grateful to the President and Secretary for their leadership to put money back into the pockets of TSA employees who worked without pay during the ongoing Democrat DHS shutdown.

"All for what?" Iran has, for DECADES, sponsored terror attacks against the United States and our allies, with no sign of stopping. Iran was furiously building their conventional weapons capacity, to the point where they were extremely close to being unstoppable if they decided to hold the world hostage and completely shut down the Strait of Hormuz. Iran demonstrated their fanaticism by lobbing rockets/drones/missiles all over the Middle East - even at alleged "allies". Iran demonstrated their ballistic missile technology can already reach Europe. Iran demonstrated that they had absolutely ZERO intention of abiding by any non-nuclear development agreements. It's either we do this now, while we have the chance, or we end up in a global war when their conventional inventory got too large, or (God forbid) they got a nuclear weapon. All that is to say, the answer to your question is: So we can put a stop to the largest funder of terrorism, and reduce the threat to our citizens, and to our allies. So we, or our children, don't have to deal with a much bigger problem in the near future. So we can potentially normalize relations in the Middle East. Just to name a few. Yeah, there are downsides. The big three I see: Nobody wants another Iraq War, and nobody wants our military put in unnecessary risk; every person we lose is a tragedy. The counter argument is that, if we don't do this now, the cost will be MUCH higher. Costs are rising as a result. Definitely sucks filling up the tank right now. The counter argument is that it's temporary; once this is over, oil prices WILL go down. We're spending a lot of money and depleting a lot of resources. The counter argument is that President Trump has a unique way of getting countries to repay us for our expenses; I can see him setting up so the United States recoups our investment.

Thirteen U.S. Service members are dead, gas prices are up nearly a dollar per gallon, and our government is spending nearly a billion dollars a day on this war in Iran. All for what? Instead of getting us out of Iran, the president is sending thousands more troops to the region. No one wants this war, and the president is unable to show a need for it. #NHPolitics

🚨 BREAKING: Speaker Johnson just dropped this TRUTH NUKE and then walked off "Listen, we're going to send it over there and you can SEE what they do!" "If this is not UC'd [unanimous consent] and they don't do it, the president has shown leadership. He's going to FUND TSA agents." "We'll get that covered, but we have the rest of the country to take care of. We're not asking them to do anything heroic!" "These aren't partisan games. We're not adding bells and whistles to this. It is a CLEAN continuation of funding to make sure that the most basic responsibility of government is fulfilled. And we'll see how that goes!"
