District Tournament kicks off tonight at 7 PM. Checking lunch donations—Trevor’s dad still hasn’t donated to the team or worked on the field (contingent on his first start of the season). Batting 8 tonight due to off-field issues. #BaseballTwitter #Ringszn #DistrictChamps

@CoachSebron Are you actually paying attention? This is a dad and his kid renting a cage.

@SwingAngryLLC I’m sure you were working on different speeds, movement, and release slots—right? Or did that just happen naturally on the same-location BP?

@CoachSebron Nobody taught. It naturally occurred. And it was not hindering his movement efficiency.

@CoachBechler Mediocre teams have “cool coaches.” Great teams have mentors.

@SwingAngryLLC Probably the most fundamentally flawed idea you could teach a young kid’s swing—I honestly can’t think of anything worse.

@CoachSebron I think the dynamic of that day matters a lot. The kid naturally moved that way. And the dad consistently fussed at him for it. You could tell the kid became frustrated. That makes a difference in participation and joy.

I want guys with a chip. I want guys who listen and adapt. I want players who aren’t happy when they’re not in the starting lineup. I want players who show up early, stay late, and come in with a plan. I want ballplayers—and most importantly, I want dogs.

@ValentiJim @CoachSwit You know what it should be then—the whole team going up to ‘coach’ the 3/4 hitter comment is laughable

@CoachSebron @CoachSwit Or just maybe they are showing leadership & accountability to the rest of the team... 🤔

Our first H.S. loss last night. #3 in the state… beat by #6. 8 p.m. Dark. Back at school… 3 & 4 hitters asked to hit. No excuses. Just work. That’s who you want in the middle of your order. ⚾️ Anyone else got players like this?

@JWonCATCHING The real exit from a slump is process stability under pressure: same intent, same strike-zone discipline, and trusting adjustments even when results don’t show up yet. If players start letting batting average dictate their mindset, they end up reacting instead of hitting

HITTING IS HARD You don’t hit .300 every day. You might go three weeks & hit .150 then have a week where you hit .600. I don’t love batting average as an indicator of if you are hitting or not but the players gravitate towards it. Most rather get a hit with a bad swing & bad EV than line out. When players go into an extended slump( Yogi-No slump just not hitting) they lose confidence often over thinking & getting bogged down with too many mechanical thoughts which exacerbates the situation. To get out of the slump, you eventually have to get your hits when you are not confident. We talk about process over outcome & redefining success so that you are not only successful when you get hits(IE hard contact/putting a good swing on your pitch) but ultimately you need to get hits to regain your confidence. That doesn’t mean you can’t tweak your routine, etc. But hitting your way on base changes everything. It’s not easy. It’s takes a high degree of mental toughness. There are a couple things you can do to help your team & your psyche when you are not hitting. Play great defense, take your walks & run the bases aggressively & intelligently. Help your teammates play better & help your team win. Stay present. Don’t focus on your failures & how many future hits you’re going to have to get to match the stats on the back of your baseball card.

@KirkHerbstreit These kids are going to be great, and they’ve heard enough from you old-timers. Everything has changed whether you like it or not. One thing I do see is heart and a love for being on the field. Let’s start appreciating that more.

How is this celebrated?!? What the hell is wrong with people?! Where are the coaches? Umpires? What parent in the right mind wouldn’t drag their son off the field if he did that? Pathetic!!
Danny Kanell@dannykanell

The coaches and parents who allow this to go on are the problem. Instead of teaching kids how to play the game the right way and show respect for the opponent they’re worried about getting viral attention. Embarrassing.

@JoshStraughan1 the real split isn’t “coachable vs not coachable = good vs bad players.” It’s more like: some elite players thrive on external coaching, others thrive on internal processing, and the best environments find a balance instead of treating one style as superior.

Been around athletics my whole life, the dudes who love to be coached are usually the best players on any team or in any organization. It’s really popular to be offended by every little thing these days.. real dogs want to be coached 💯

@Dscottph325 @CoachSwit If a player came to me with a list of things from last night that he thinks he could work on or insights from the game, that is 100% more productive than just going and hitting with low energy.

@CoachSebron @CoachSwit What a weird take away! I don’t know if you’ve experienced the grind of a season. But high school kids at 8pm after a road game saying that, even if they don’t 100% believe it is awesome!

@TheRealMrDTC @CoachSwit I’m more interested in players who work productively and cover all areas of the game, not just the most visible ones. You don’t see postgame focus on things like bunt coverages or defensive rotations being asked by players in the same way.

@CoachSebron @CoachSwit Yeah, you're right but you're also putting down kids that still want to improve no matter the way they choose. It's HS and they could hit for an hour and be home a little after 9 which is not late. Who's to say they aren't discussing what went wrong during the game while hitting.

Players: With the game in a state of constant selfish "look at me" antics, I urge you to be the outlier. Be the guy that plays with class, respect, and grit. The guy that let's his game do his talking for him. The guy whose heart is way bigger than his mouth. The guy who always hustles. The guy who respects his opponent and doesn't need to degrade them. The guy who wins and that's enough. The guy who puts his team before himself. This game has been played for hundreds of years. We owe it to those who came before us and paved the way to play the game right. We should honor them by playing the game hard, with class, and respect. The game owes us nothing and we owe it everything. Baseball is life! ⚾️

@TheRealMrDTC @CoachSwit Not everything is solved by “just go hit.” Sometimes talking through what happened matters way more. It’s a high school game — go to sleep and get to class tomorrow.

@CoachSebron @CoachSwit maybe it is them taking accountability for failing to get the big hit or hits they needed.
