It’s pretty simple. They were members of the Democratic coalition and believed protest would have a tangible impact on ending the genocide. They have zero truck with Trump and logically calculate that the only result will be brutal repression and no impact

The protests failed. It’s pretty clear from administration interviews since that Biden was never genuinely pursuing a ceasefire and had every intention of supporting Israel till the bitter end. I think energy has shifted towards defeating pro Israel Dems in primaries as a necessary precondition.
