@ad0rnai Evolution designed us to have babies in our teens & 20s. I had my babies in my 20s and have noticed that women around me that had babies in their mid-30s struggled far more with adapting. Too set in their ways by then.

from observing mothers around me I’ve noticed that beyond obvious factors like financial means and family/paid support, those who had an easier time embraced the transformations of parenthood (your life becomes more unpredictable / not your own) whereas those who found the experience more challenging underestimated the degree to which parenthood upended your life I’m sure some of it is also dependent on your specific stage of life — are you also taking care of aging parents? are you experiencing upheavals in your career or role as a SAHM? — and your children’s age from the outside it seems like your 30s and 40s bring even more transformations than your teens and 20s

@DrCamiloOrtiz I used disposable diapers too. Couldn't wait until they were trained. Daughter has 5, a mix of care between, me, nanny, daycare, & now she's at home with them after moving to TX. Uses cloth diapers, still didn't train them until 4yo.

@DrCamiloOrtiz My observations: 1) Lazy parents 2) kids shuffled between multiple caregivers, no consistency in anything. My son's 2 kids go between Mom, Dad, daycare, & other grandma. Daycare teacher actually potty trained them. I worked too but we & my Mom, made sure they were trained.

In the 1930s, the vast majority of American children were potty-trained by 18 months. The average age has steadily increased over the past hundred years. Be skeptical when a professional tells you children are not capable of noticing internal cues to poop until they are 3 or older.

❤️our RV. Even with increasing gas prices. No TSA in my driveway. No dictates on what I can bring. Our own food/bathroom/bed. $200 for our upcoming 2wk camping trip, plus gas. Our fall trip is free, plus gas, because we're dispersed camping.

My wife has had “panic disorder” for some time now, about a year and a half post the birth of our son We know that mainstream psychiatry often treats panic disorder as primarily brain based anxiety disorder I obviously have a lot of disdain for this reductionist garbage, which fails to consider the body through holism She has done CBT, which has helped her manage symptoms, but it hasn’t solved the issue for good We’ve tried a lot of things to help her resolve this. Methylcobalamin, P5P, magnesium acetyl turinate, beef organ supplementation, vagus nerve activation devices, so forth Nothing seems to stick. This is a deep rabbit hole, and I’m doing my best to pinpoint what it could be She has a history of hypothyroidism, and I suspect that plays a heavy part in this entire dynamic Has anybody gone through this and resolved panic disorder for good? If you have any experience with this, please share some insight below She’s a phenomenal mother and wife. I want to help her overcome this because it takes a toll on her mentally throughout the day

@ChefGruel I make Fathead pizza crust, subbing crushed pork rinds for the almond flour. Melt shredded mozz (pre-shredded doesn't work) & cream cheese in microwave, stir in the rest. Prick with a fork, 5min at 425°, check for bubbles, bake another 5min. Add toppings, bake for 10.

New research! Pilot trial of the ketogenic diet as a treatment for moderate to severe depression. Bottom line: 8 of 11 enrolled participants completed the study, and 87% achieved remission! There's much more to "diets" than calories. sciencedirect.com/science/articl…

@BoulderCAST West Arvada near 64th & Eldridge, on the boundary of the planned shut down. No wind almost all day until about 4:00, then pretty strong wind for about an hour, not too crazy. Quiet since then. Our power went out at 2:30 but came back on in a couple of minutes.

The east-west gradient in today's wind storm is mind boggling. Over 100 MPH at the base of the Foothills and in Boulder. Just breezy 5-10 miles east. Lots of unplanned power outages and trees down in Boulder and Jefferson Counties. Where color did you area end up in? Are you seeing any damage? #COwx

Please assist me in sharing this wonderful treatment opportunity far and wide! Many people live with depression for years despite trying medications, therapy, supplements, or lifestyle changes. Symptoms may improve temporarily, only to return, leaving people wondering why nothing seems to last. The Healing Depression Project offers an immersive 30-day program that integrates metabolic psychiatry, therapeutic ketogenic nutrition, functional medicine, and trauma-focused therapy within a structured retreat-style setting. In their most recent program, all participants showed measurable improvement by Day 30, and 80% reached remission or mild symptom levels on validated clinical scales. The next program begins March 1, 2026, and scholarships covering up to 70% of the cost are available. Limited to 10 participants. Applications close in December. If you or someone you care about has been struggling for a long time, this program may offer a path toward meaningful improvement. Learn more and watch recovery stories at HealingDepressionProject.com Participants will be in Texas during the program, so as long as they travel they could live anywhere in the U.S. and still receive care!

“Don’t tell dad”! 10yrs ago my daughter was pregnant with her first child(who is pictured here with him in front of her). My wife and I took our very first trip alone in 25yrs for our anniversary. In middle of night my wife wakes me up saying our daughter’s leg was swollen, blue and in extreme pain. My daughter told my wife not to wake or bother me, but of course she immediately did. I immediately sent her to the ER for US to rule out DVT. Study was inconclusive and sent to her OB. I talked to her OB who proceeded to tell me it was common for pregnant women to have unilateral leg swelling and pain in pregnancy because of increased blood volume. She said she was pregnant not handicapped. My daughter was seen by her in the office and told all was fine and this was normal. We were 4,000 miles away. I felt helpless and this OB dismissed my daughter’s symptoms. My daughter still in college, tried to go to class and got crutches to walk to class. When I heard this and after the OB convo, I sent my daughter to my friend, a vascular surgeon, who scanned her himself. He diagnosed her with foot long DVT in her left femoral vein. Immediate hosp admit and placed on heparin drip. The OB never returned my calls after this. My sons went to her beside and we flew home. Fast forward and my daughter carried her son to term and delivered a healthy little boy, first grandchild. Months later my vascular friend said there is a rare condition called May-Thurners and she could have it. She went for a Venogram and sure enough she had it and got a stent. She’s fine and has had two more children. I share this story to raise awareness of May-Thurners as often the first symptom is death. Any unilateral left sided pain and swelling in a female patient should be taken seriously. I believe a vascular srgn should do initial work up as ER and US can be neg or inconclusive. I’m convinced had I not been a surgeon, comfortable enough to push back and not accept info given,my daughter and grandson may have died. This condition has likely seen us more than we see it. Be on alert with female patients with left sided leg pain and swelling. Please share and raise awareness of #Maythurner @farkomd @AnahitaDua

Plus when government causes inflation by increasing the money supply, it inflates the "value" of your home, thereby increasing the property tax. Some counties reduce the burden by reducing mill levys, but many don't.
Tracy Shuchart (𝒞𝒽𝒾 )@chigrl

The Framers understood the distinction between direct and indirect taxation with precision. Article I, Section 9 explicitly requires direct taxes to be apportioned among states according to population. Property taxes are unambiguously direct taxes - they're assessed on ownership itself, not on transactions or activities. Yet property taxes operate without apportionment, which should render them constitutionally void at the federal level and questionable even when delegated to states. The 16th Amendment carved out an exception for income taxes specifically, but that exception does not extend to property taxation. The constitutional architecture treats direct taxation as dangerous enough to require strict apportionment rules, yet property taxes bypass this safeguard entirely through state delegation. More fundamentally, property taxes create a feudal relationship disguised as governance. Under a true republic, citizens hold allodial title - absolute ownership free from superior claim. The Fifth Amendment prohibits taking property without just compensation, yet property taxes effectively constitute partial takings every year. If the state claimed 1.5% of your land annually through eminent domain, that would clearly violate the Takings Clause. Property taxes achieve the same result through financial extraction rather than physical seizure. The annual obligation functions as permanent debt secured by your property, except you never borrowed the principal and cannot pay it off. This converts ownership into a rental agreement with the government as landlord. The economic mechanism reveals the deeper violation. Property taxes create a wedge between productive use and bare ownership. A family farm generating modest income faces the same tax burden as commercial development generating high income on equivalent acreage. This penalizes long term holding and forces continuous monetization of property to service tax obligations. Retirees who paid off mortgages still face monthly tax bills or lose their homes. This is incompatible with the republic ideal of independent citizens free from permanent economic subordination to state authority. The assessment process compounds the constitutional problem. Property taxes assume the state owns your land and graciously allows you to use it in exchange for annual rent, rather than treating citizens as sovereign owners and the state as a limited agent. Framersof the republic feared concentrated power and permanent dependencies that would corrupt civic virtue. Property taxes create exactly this corruption by making every property owner a dependent of local government. School districts, municipalities, and counties gain incentive to inflate assessments and resist appeals because their budgets depend on tax revenue. This converts government from servant to creditor with the power to seize collateral. The structural incentives guarantee abuse because the assessor, the beneficiary, and the enforcement mechanism all represent the same entity. No private creditor would be allowed this arrangement, yet we accept it from government. From an economic sovereignty perspective, property taxes effectively nationalize land while maintaining the fiction of private ownership. The state captures the rental yield through annual taxation while owners bear all maintenance costs, market risks, and liability. If tax rates exceed the property's income generating capacity, ownership becomes a net liability. This explains the abandoned properties in Detroit and other distressed cities. When taxes exceed economic value, rational owners walk away. The state has successfully converted ownership into a burden rather than an asset.
