@MorlockP It's more like what happened with Thunderfoot, a capable person who has fallen so far into derangement that they ignore everything to maintain the attack. While personally I don't feel orbiting data centers work out economically on a large scale this is not the angle to look at.

@RightWingJax Ha zero millennials apply for warehouse jobs. Most of my applicants are between 30 and 60 years old. I only have one employee under 30

New hire. He’s in his 50s. Says he needs money desperately so he can pay for his daughter’s college tuition in the Fall. Not a perfect fit, but we are busy and the foreman agrees to give him a shot. It’s been two weeks. He leaves work early in the middle of the day twice the first week. Last week he claims he tweaked his back on Sunday and can’t work for 3 days. Today he texts me asking for a raise that would take his income above every bag operator that works at the company, including those that have been with the company for over a decade. I said no. He’s not happy he claims. None of this is surprising or stressful. I deal with this all the time. This is stuff that is never in the CIMs of small businesses for sale that wear on owners over the years.

@mmm_mmph1991 @EileenChollet Transportation still has a cost, especially at insane bulk. Instead use droid operated vessels either pulling random ice asteroids from any existing asteroid belt or the local Oort cloud and pushing them to burn up on entry.

Tatooine is canonically all desert because the oceans it used to have dried up. This makes sense, because if there were current oceans on Tatooine, hydrological engineers would desalinate and pipe the desalinated water rather than condensing water out of the air on moisture farms. But there’s no plausible mechanism for drying up or removing a planet’s oceans while maintaining a human-breathable atmosphere. The oceans can’t evaporate into a human-breathable atmosphere, they would just rain out again. If you sucked all the oceans into space resulting in desertification of the whole planet, you lose all the plants that you need to turn CO2 into O2, so everyone would suffocate. One could argue that they engage in massive behind-the-scenes geoengineering to scrub the whole planet’s atmosphere, but if you’re going to do geoengineering on that scale, it would make more sense to just prevent the oceans from drying up in the first place.

Honestly rushing the vote won't work anyways, support is too soft. One more year minimum means another full year of the rest of canada referring to Alberta as stupid redneck Hicks who are only good for being paypigs for the rest of the country while being bashed as the source of pollution and right wing rhetoric. At least until enough replacements have been imported.

If the separatist side wins the vote to have a vote on separation sometime in the next few years, it's not legally binding, according to Mark Carney. So it's just another way to extend the issue, instead of letting Albertans have their say in a real referendum. Calling it a referendum is factually incorrect and designed to deceive people.

Most Americans have no idea what the “universal health care” system is doing to people in Canada. Dr. James MacLean assessed 45 year-old Thomas Dillon at a Tim Horton’s in Ontario. Dillon told MacLean that he suffered from inflammatory bowel diseases as well as addiction and mental health issues. He was depressed that he had lost his job and was living with relatives. He was experiencing suicidal ideation. The doctor concurred with Dillon’s belief that suicide was the correct response to his problems. MacLean drove Dillon to a funeral home, killed him with a lethal injection and left the corpse with the undertaker. Dillon’s family, who had learned of his intention to kill himself, was frantically trying to save him, but the assessment was so brief that, when Dillon’s sister reached the Tim Horton’s, the doctor had already taken her brother away. The doctor carried out the euthanasia without attempting to contact his suicidal and mentally-ill patient’s family. After the family complained, the doctor was instructed to undergo six months of supervision where his requests to kill someone must be signed off on by another doctor before they are carried out. About 80,000 Canadians have died by euthanasia since 2020.

@Clint_Davey1 Like any other type of artificial pond you are going to have issues of water draining through the soil. Backyard ponds often have to use truckloads of clay as a bottom layer, not feasible with castle era transport and even if possible during a siege the attackers could drain it.

There are two, among several, major goals of the ai companies: replacing non physical labor and replacing all entertainment. The first company to succeed wins everything, the rest collapse. Therefore they all are rushing everything and stretching every funding source to be the winner in their specific race.

Honest question... There are 4,000 to 5,000 data centers, with another 1,500 more planned to be built in the next year... AI doesn't need these many to operate. Let alone the water and energy needed to run. So why are there so many?!

I'm curious how Japan is so fascinated with our BBQ culture. I get not being able to grill, but are baby back ribs hard to get there or something? Japanese bros seem to love pork, so it's not like they just throw that part of the pig out, right? Maybe this weekend I'll show Japaniki how to make baby back ribs in the oven, American style 😎

It is not a solution, but it will make it difficult. Right now the (usually Democrat) party in charge can see the actual ballot counts then slide in 'found or late' mail in ballots to reach a victory margin that is realistic enough that calling it out looks like sour grapes. If this change stands there are risk of over-printing votes or under printing votes because there's not the post-election day time.
