@AndyMac1923 @MarkoMatvikov The Liberals are worse. They could have done far far better last election just saying cut immigration, but did not. Because they are big business simps. Labor are also on the ponzi but it was Liberal policies (inc already issued Visas) that caused the giant post-pandemic surge.

In other words: The majority of Australians want lower immigration; but Some are naive enough to think Labor and Liberals would deliver it.

@AusPoll6 Kind of like asking "Which drunk person is best able to drive you home safely" Honestly the order looks correct to me though. Labor have been timid because of the 2019 election but looks like they're about to actually do something in May. All the others are complete cookers.

The Greens held a renters' breakfast yesterday at Victorian Parliament, just before introducing our bill for rent controls. Here's what a two-year rent freeze - followed by permanent rent caps set to wages and CPI - would mean to some Melbourne renters 💚

@acteduweininger Until 1995 women got the full pension aged just 60! It slowly crept from then up and only reached 65 in 2013. 100,000 of those women who got it at 60 (many of whom never worked) are still on it!

The solution to the boomer question is quite simple: raise the minimum age to be eligible for the pension to 80 and also require a comprehensive medical exam to show that you are unfit to work. Turn it into an elderly disability payment. It is nonsense that someone who is 80+ cannot work, let alone the fit and healthy 65+ year olds who sit idle all day raping the heavily taxed wages of the youth. In Japan there is a large elderly population who work comfortably into their 90s… Pensions are bankrupting the western world. We need to re-enslaves the boomers. The new motto of our society should be: You work until you die or until you can afford on your own not to work. No more hand outs from the state.

@wheelreinvent I read somewhere mandatory helmets in cars would save more lives than it does for bikes. Or was it pedestrians?

One thing the government could do to ease prices/demand on fuel is to implement mandatory car helmet laws which would both get less people driving and save lives. And it would cost nothing. So why haven’t they done so?

@JWojny @Ryandally08 Strange that you use the word 'detected', seemingly understanding that it isn't precise enough, but then conclude it isn't a gotcha? Working extra hours either gets extra money (as overtime, often at higher rates) or is seen as dedicated and more likely to get promoted/bonuses

@Ryandally08 I don’t think this is the gotcha you think it is. They explain that they are comparing contracted annualised hours, i.e an agreed hourly rate. It doesn’t matter if a man works more as that overtime is not taken into account in the detected pay gap.

Government officials are asked about their own statistics showing a gender pay gap in Australia. They end up being forced to admit that the entire gap could be explained with the fact that women work less hours than men. Absolutely brutal takedown.

@Nostradamu001 @Ryandally08 @OMGTheMess Part time jobs almost be definition most often cannot be leadership, because the person is not around to guide or help their staff. They more often than not have to be jobs where hours can just be filled in, perhaps with skills but with less ongoing responsibility.

@Bookhermit1 @Ryandally08 The concept is true, but to apply it here as if it somehow tilts the scale toward women is both facetious and Canberra/law firm bubble stuff. Many working 8 hours shifts are also unproductive. And the kind of 12 hours shifts being described are usually overtime at higher pay.

@aaronsmith @Ryandally08 You missed half the point. They annualise up part time to full time. But many people work more than 38 hours a week. Extra dollars earned in overtime show up in the stats as earnings, but the extra hours do not. And the blonde woman literally didn't understand it.

@Ryandally08 This is nonsense. The answer could've been more forcefully given, but if you listen, the numbers are annualised, so a part time salary is converted to a full time equivalent for the purpose of comparison. Can't believe this bullshit still persists.

The problem here is clear. A guy is trying to give contradictions but can’t even read or understand Arabic and things “ translation is translation” In Arabic language one word can have 70 meanings above and below - now imagine a full sentence.. Nice try little boi… but the Holy Book is in many terms unique and one of a kind.

Bad immigration economics assumes every extra person is one less seat. Good economics notices they also bring a seat, a side dish, and demand for the bloke selling drinks. ⁣ ⁣ The first story is fear; the second is how economies work.

@taipan168 Many sections of the economy (eg food delivery) should not exist and are only here because they’re subsidised by an imported slave class suppressing wages for all here. Remove the immigrants and these industries disappear, and unemployment is unaffected.

Imagine stating that "there's no worker shortage and never has been" when unemployment is 4.3% and many if not most of the aged care workers, nurses and similar occupations are staffed by immigrants.
Mark's Daddy@DeZuidermaan

@taipan168 @Dave_Low There is no worker shortage and never has been. There is only a wage shortage. Pay locals a fair wage and they will do the work. I was overseas and locked out during covid, so yes I remember that hardship well. The borders should have stayed closed for foreigners, not Aussies

@NatedawgO7 The problem is anyone who did the equivalent from like 2000-2019 got rich from it. So they just want the same as their parents. I wish we could go back and retrospectively tax those who did this in the past too.

Tax the fuck out of these people. One they can’t afford an ip with that income and 3 kids. Two the taxpayer is subsidising them buying a rental and removing it from the rental pool to turn into an Airbnb in a housing crisis

@plebcapital The extra super contributions is extremely dumb in this situation, they have been propagandised to see putting extra money into savings as an ‘expense’. Paying down the house to pay less interest and have a buffer would improve life NOW.
