One of my pub customers' wives won't let him drink Stella. When they come in and go straight to the bar together he dutifully orders himself a pint of Coors. For all subsequent rounds when he comes back to the bar to get the drinks, he has Stella in a Coors glass.

It is outrageous that a reported rape that didn’t happen involves hundreds of police holding back crowds protesting about not being told the descriptions of non existent suspects. Can’t these people give the police a chance to investigate first?

Peter Mandelson’s appointment was a political one and FCDO knew that Keir Starmer/ Morgan McSweeney wanted it to happen even though the due diligence process had raised red flags. Olly Robbins’ response to this question gives, I think, an insight into why he overruled the security vetting decision: “The PM took advice and took a view himself and we then acted on that view”. What it doesn’t explain is why he didn’t flag security concerns over Britain’s top diplomatic appointee with No 10 - or if he told officials why they didn’t share with the political side of operation.

@BrentWR @AlistairHaimes The post of British ambassador to America, is normally for four years, so I have read, it had been extended by one year in this ladys case (I cannot say if she was willing to carry on any longer) a new ambassador was required.

The term to describe the Starmer/Robbins imbroglio escaped me until now. "Plausible deniability" That is what Starmer wanted or what Olly thought Starmer wanted and that is what Olly gave him. When the news broke, Starmer, as is his wont, then went steaming bull on poor Olly.
