Gonna be honest, if you think "Sinners" was a “‘turn your brain off’ vampire movie” you definitely should’ve turned your brain on. That’s the kind of astoundingly wrong misread that can only come from someone who turned their brain off.

I liked Sinners well enough (fun "turn your brain off" vampire movie), but the amount of glazing screams of insecurity. Movies like Beasts of No Nation or Sing Sing are LEAGUES better if you're looking for an arthouse film.

Man, I made people real mad just for arguing that approaching a movie with critical thought and engaging with it in good faith is better than turning your brain off and misinterpreting it. I should’ve expected a call to think critically would piss off a certain kind of crowd.
