I fully expect Microsoft to permanently close Rare within the next few years.
When I think about it, I’m surprised they haven’t already. The only thing Rare has contributed to gaming since 2019 has been on a Nintendo platform.

Look I get layoffs are terrible and suck but that’s an Industry wide issue. People being surprised that XBOX (who are at their lowest point yet) trying to re-structure themselves to get any sort of momentum or growth going again having more layoffs is wild.
