SoCal has the best climate on Earth and for the last 15 years invasive mosquitos have been spreading, making it very difficult to actually be outside, risking disease. March 5, 2026: Following a partial DHS shutdown when CR expired in mid-February, the House passed a revised version of the FY2026 appropriation bill by a vote of 221–209. CR expires and all parts of DHS other than ICE and BP enter a partial shutdown on February 14, 2026, with critical workers still working but not getting paid. On March 27, 2026, the Senate passed a modified version of the House March 5 bill by voice vote, which has now returned to the House for final, but stripping out ICE funding which House included in every prior package when passed by the House.
