@Pirat_Nation Imagine a 90 year old reading this and their reaction. We have fallen so far and hold ourselves to no standards anymore. All trans people should not be enabled and should seek immediate therapy

According to Kotaku, several transgender employees at Wizards of the Coast said the company used their legal names rather than their chosen names on voter lists during a union election, resulting in some workers being deadnamed in front of colleagues. The list was shared internally, exposing some employees’ deadnames to coworkers. Employees said the company apologized after complaints, but the same issue reportedly occurred again during the following week’s voting process. One affected employee, Xib Vaine, said the problem was discovered when coworkers could not find employees by their chosen names on the list. The National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) allows the use of preferred names and does not require legal names. Employees also said Wizards of the Coast had generally been supportive of transgender workers in everyday workplace interactions. Several employees said the repeated disclosure was especially upsetting because deadnames can reveal that someone is transgender without their consent. Wizards of the Coast said it had provided legal names to the NLRB as part of the election process and acknowledged the emotional impact on affected employees.

Valve’s latest Steam Hardware & Software Survey for May 2026 shows Linux holding 3.99% of Steam’s user base. That’s down from 4.52% in April and 5.33% in March, but it remains well above the sub-2% levels Linux typically saw for many years. Steam Hardware Survey results can vary monthly due to changes in participation and regional sampling. Even so, Linux gaming on Steam remains much stronger than a few years ago and will keep improving thanks to enhancements in Proton, SteamOS, and game compatibility.

Epic Games CEO Tim Sweeney is getting backlash after attacking Gabe Newell following the Steam Deck OLED price hike and saying he needs the money to buy more superyachts. Valve says the increases are due to rising RAM and SSD component costs, but Sweeney wasn’t buying it. “Valve needs the extra revenue to continue maintaining its megayachts.”

@Holyniwa @Pirat_Nation Nothing to love about Gabe Newell. We can respect what Valve has done, but at the end of the day, just like Ubisoft, Valve is an "Own nothing and like it" company. Everything you buy is a license to use, basically just a tenant on their servers who can be evicted for any reason.

Valve’s rumored Steam Machine could cost much more than originally expected after the recent Steam Deck OLED price increases. Reports claim Valve’s original Steam Machine price target was far lower, with early estimates between $600 and $800. Newer estimates suggest the device could launch at over $1,000. A more expensive Steam Machine would compete directly with gaming PCs and consoles.

Vladimir Putin has signed a new law that increases restrictions on VPN services in Russia. VPNs are often used to access blocked websites and protect online privacy. Russia has regulated VPNs for several years, but the new measures give authorities stronger control over internet access and censorship. The government says the law aims to improve cybersecurity and protect national stability, but peopple say is just another step toward tighter control of information and reduced internet freedom. Russia is expanding its “sovereign internet” system, which allows closer monitoring and filtering of online traffic. As a result, many VPN services have become slower, blocked, or unreliable.

@HeyItsBunty @Pirat_Nation They design "hardware vulnerabilities" to ensure there's plenty of ways they can fear monger people into constantly buying new machines. One day there will be a terrible aging weakness in windows 11 machines in 2035 and Microsoft will tell us we have no choice but to spend $$$$$

Microsoft has clarified what will happen to Windows 11 PCs that do not receive the upcoming Secure Boot certificate updates before the June 2026 deadline. The issue centers on Secure Boot certificates introduced in 2011, set to expire in June 2026. These verify that Windows boots using trusted software and protect against low-level malware such as bootkits. According to Microsoft, PCs that ignore the update could face: - Reduced protection against boot-level malware and unauthorized bootloaders - Inability to receive future Secure Boot revocation updates - Potential failures when installing future Windows feature updates - Boot errors or recovery screens after future firmware or security changes - Compatibility issues with newer Windows boot components Many systems will continue to boot normally after June 2026, so users should not expect sudden unusability. However, unsupported or older devices without updated certificates are most vulnerable. Microsoft recommends keeping Windows Update enabled, ensuring Secure Boot is on in UEFI/BIOS settings, and installing firmware updates from the PC manufacturer. Via: windowslatest

@Pirat_Nation I played both Destiny games for 10 years of my life, since I was in middle school. Bungie via orders from Activision or Sony destroyed the game with their predatory live service model, marathon was how they recovered from the destruction of Destiny 2 which happened 6 years ago

Marathon is getting review-bombed after Bungie announced that Destiny 2 will stop getting major content updates after the June release. Bungie will also do layoffs according to Bloomberg. Many longtime Destiny players seem to be using Marathon’s review page to share frustration with Bungie over the future of Destiny 2. Marathon could be the next target from Sony if they don't meet their expectations.

Garry Newman, the developer behind Garry’s Mod and Rust, has reportedly been permanently banned from Knockoutchat, a major unofficial community forum for his games and s&box. Knockoutchat was created by former Facepunch moderators and community members after Newman shut down the official Facepunch Forums in 2019 because they had become expensive to moderate and increasingly toxic. The ban happened after some users asked Newman to publicly distance himself from comments and opinions associated with certain coworkers or friends. He declined, and several moderators then issued permanent bans one after another.

Russia has fined Epic Games approximately $27,000 through its internet regulator Roskomnadzor. The penalty is due to the company’s failure to store personal data of Russian users on domestic servers, as required by local data localization laws. This is part of a broader enforcement effort that includes lawsuits against major studios such as Electronic Arts and Take-Two Interactive. Courts have issued similar 2-million-ruble fines to several firms since early 2026, with additional cases pending against companies like Embracer Group and Digital Extremes. There are more affected titles like Red Dead Redemption 2, Cyberpunk 2077, The Sims 4, and Fall Guys.

Kickstarter has officially reversed its controversial new mature content guidelines after huge backlash from creators In a blog post published today titled “An Apology: Rethinking Our Mature Content Guidelines,” the platform acknowledged that the detailed rules released last week went too far. The changes were by pressure from their payment processor, Stripe, which had begun suspending approved campaigns over mature content. As a result, Kickstarter is removing the new guidelines entirely and returning to its previous simpler policy: projects may not include pornography or illegal content. Payment processors can still review and potentially block campaigns based on their own standards.
