🚨 this has happened before.. and California never fixed it.. 2020.. California took weeks to finalize results in multiple congressional races.. 2022.. it happened again.. races called days after election night.. national media called it embarrassing.. 2024.. same story.. counties still counting 2 weeks after polls closed.. and here's what nobody wants to say out loud.. every time this happens.. California passes a small fix.. AB 5 cut the counting window from 30 days to 13.. and left the 7-day mail reception window completely untouched.. the thing that causes the delay.. is still the policy.. Florida doesn't have this problem because Florida built its system around counting speed.. California built its system around mail volume.. and those two things cannot produce the same result on election night.. you cannot count ballots that haven't arrived yet.. and California lets them arrive for a week after you voted.. this isn't a staffing failure.. it's not a tech failure.. it's the same architecture producing the same outcome for the 4th election cycle in a row.. and calling it broken every time without changing the part that's actually broken.. the last time a state ran this exact system and called the delays a surprise.. it was still a surprise the next time too. I stayed up to 3am watching the CA election results trickle in, then fell asleep. Woke up this morning to check and this is what I found???? How is this possible? How can a modern American state be so inept??? 57.5% of the vote counted. That’s it. California is a joke.
